Washington DC/Baltimore

Washington DC

This is the continuation of our trip last week. I hitched a ride with Dadra on her way back home to Maryland. Tom's sister Andrea is finishing her last year at Georgetown so we got to spend a day with her and she was sweet enough to give us a tour of some of the DC sites. I loved it! I have never been out there so I was so excited for the opportunity.

Andrea and a sleepy Reese walking down "M Street."

Cute little munchkin in front of the White House

Seeing the White House in person was seriously so cool! I really was in awe. It's just crazy to finally see something in real life that is so historical and significant. We also got to see the Washington Monument, the State Capitol building, and a protest. I think Andrea thought it was funny that I thought seeing a protest march was so much fun. Oh, yeah we also got to see these huge Bobble Head people (one Dick Cheney and the other Condoleeza Rice) yelling "arrest Bush." I completely don't agree with them, but it was funny to see such crazy people. Even if I was so passionate about something I don't think I'd waste my time in a Giant Head costume outside the White House. The only main thing that we didn't get to see was the Lincoln Memorial just because we were trying to pack so much into one afternoon.

For dinner we met up with Andrea's "special friend" Ben and went to an Indian restaurant (my absolute favorite food)! So I was only around Ben for a few hours, but I think he's great and so much fun so I went ahead and gave Andrea a huge thumbs up! We all know that the sister-in-law's approval is the most important. :) (Sorry, I need to adjust my camera so it won't give everybody freaky red eyes all the time). Thanks so much for such a fun day Andrea and Ben!

Baltimore

After dinner Andrea and Ben drove me to Baltimore so I could spend a few days with my brother Jacob and his family. Jacob is in his 3rd year of dental school and is doing awesome. He probably won't brag about it, but he is ranked #2 in his class and also got a 97 (or 98?) on his boards! David and Jacob got the smarty pants genes in our family.

One day we went to a farm and got to see some cool things. I guess it was more of a fall festival sort of thing. There was music and animals and hayrides and slides and lots of other activities. This is a picture of the 3 cousins Skylar, Reese, & Evan. Reese hates the feel of grass so as you can imagine hay wasn't any better.

Shelley and Skylar on the hayride. Skylar was so cute and loved saying "no, no Reesey." Reese is queen of saying "no, no" to everybody so it was great for her to have somebody say it back to her.

Jacob & Evan. Evan is the funniest little guy you will ever meet. He has lots of personality and is super excited about life! For those family members that are familiar with "we are funny guys together", I asked him who taught him how to be so funny and he told me "Uncle Adam."

Reese lost in the maze. By the way, she started oficially walking while we were in Baltimore. (I'm glad Tom got to see her first actual steps a couple weeks ago.) She will still crawl a little every once in a while, but since we got home walking is her preferred way to get around. It's so cute to see such a little body waddle around.

I always call Reese "little turkey." So it was perfect that she loved the turkeys so much. I totally did not coach her to copy the turkeys at first. She did it on her own after she heard them the first time then I got it on video.

Downtown Baltimore. Shelley, me and all the kids walked around and ate lunch downtown one day. It was such a cool little area.

I can't believe we were in Ohio, DC, & Baltimore all in one week. It felt like 2 weeks. Not because we didn't have fun, but just because we packed so much in. Reese did amazing. I've discovered that she is a very adaptable little girl. The only bad travelling part was the flight home. It was over 4 hours and Reese's little rule in life is if there are people around she will not sleep. She usually does great on flights, but for this one let's just say that the plane touching ground put a huge smile on my face! I was also so happy to go see Tom. This was the longest we've ever gone without seeing each other since we've been married...9 days. He left for a work trip a couple days before we left. So anyway, thanks to everybody who let me stay with them, drive with them, and eat with them! I love you all!

When I saw the picture of Reese with the two other kids, I knew they were Jacob's kids before even reading about the picture. Evan is a little Jacob, and Skylar is a little Shelley. I'm glad you got to have some fun vacations. If Tom has to go out of town, you may as well take Reese and see the world.

Emily, I totally agree about Evan & Skylar looking like little versions of Jacob & Shelley! I think it would be fun to have a mini-me. I would say Reese looks more like Tom so maybe we'll have a boy that looks like me. So when are you going to start a blog?! I want to see your family and what you're up to so bad!

So, I always enjoy your blog entries, but I especially like this one. It was so much fun to have you and Reese in DC! You'll have to visit again... As for my "special friend" Ben, he really enjoyed spending time with you and Reese as well. I'm happy he received the sister-in-law stamp of approval because, like you said, that is quite important. :) You should also know that I watched Dog the Bounty Hunter AND Extreme Makeover: Home Edition this past week, thanks to you and Ben. I loved Dog and was so amused by the entire show.

I hope you're back in the swing of things in Denver, and thanks again for stopping by!

D.C. is pretty cool, huh? Never been to Baltimore, but loved the pics. Glad you had a good time. And that was a very good turkey imitation by Reese, much better than something I could've come up with....

I'm so happy that you had a great time in D.C./Baltimore. It's kind of nice when you can combine several trips in one and see so many people. Reese is such a cutie. I knew when I saw her that she would be walking any day. Now the real fun begins!!

So cute. Isn't it crazy how there are so mnay people that live in the D.C. area that people are related to (or friends with) and that there is so much to do. I can see why you wouldn't have time to see the Lincoln Memorial, there is so much to do in D.C. What a good trip to visit both friends and family though, and Reese is so cute, as always.
