The Littles Lately

While I keep struggling to figure out exactly how I want this blog to continue, I don't want some of these little moments to pass me by in the meantime. I was scrolling through my camera and each one of my littles had a picture that made me smile....

Reese-
It's no secret that Sunday morning is my least favorite time of the week. Tom is typically gone all morning/much of the day with meetings, and I really quite stink at doing it on my own. About a month ago, Reese could sense my stress (I thought I hid it so well...ha!) and surprised me with getting Everett completely dressed...crooked little tie and all. Every week since, she comes and asks me where Everett's clothes are and what else she can do to help. How I love that little sensitive heart of hers!

Claire-
This girl makes me smile! She loves to teach FHE and never fails to add some Claire-flare to it all. This past Monday night, she taught us about Nephi going to get the brass plates. At one point, she hid a Book of Mormon in the house and told us all that we had to search for it. When we got up, she was suddenly lying on the ground (as seen below). As I stepped over her and asked what she was doing, she said, as if it should be so obvious, "I'm Laban." Oh, yes! Of course! :)

Everett-
Every day after we drop Claire off at school, Everett is expecting some sort of afternoon adventure with me. Claire hops out of the car, then an immediate, "Mom, what do you want to do with me?!" I'm always hoping for some down time, but I usually give in for a bit and play "big soccer" or color until I can distract him with doing something on his own. The other day when he wanted to race cars, I remembered that we had these rain gutters in the garage. Racing/competing (in regards to anything) is this boy's life, so his own "pinewood derby" was beyond thrilling for him.

Leah Beah-
She's a little momma and loves to take care of her babies.
She also super loves shoes. She is typically pretty insistent on only having one on at a time and always on the wrong foot. Unless, of course, they are Everett's. Then two are suddenly better than one.

As cliché as it sounds, I have been feeling so aware lately how these really are such incredibly precious years--"the best years of my life." I've been getting super sentimental, and even though I'm often a crazy, impatient, short-tempered mother, I don't wish these years away for anything!

What a sweet post! I love hearing about each of your kiddos...how perceptive, thoughtful, and helpful Reece is, how funny Claire is, how competitive and full of energy Everett is, and Leah sounds a lot like Carly...insisting on wearing shoes on the wrong feet and being the little mama ;). Your kids are so precious!! Way to go on documenting these moments!

Oh, I hear you. What great sentiment! First, I got teary-eyed reading about Reese being so helpful on Sunday morning. She really is such a sweetheart! And Claire's knowledge of the scriptures is very impressive. Of course she's going to make any scripture story funny. Good call on the rain gutter pinewood derby tracks! He just wanted to play foosball with Cory last time he was here, and that competitive nature shined through. Leah is just as adorable as they come. I love this age of little girls and I'm glad you're enjoying it.

Definitely keep updating. :) Your kids are growing up so fast! I know I've only ever seen them in pictures, but it is still fun watching them grow. All beautiful little people, just like their momma!
