Halloween 2013--Alice In Wonderland

Oh Halloween, how I love it so. Such a random holiday, but so much fun, don't you think? After only doing a partial family costume last year, I thought our full-family-costume days were over. So imagine my delight when I was driving with my littles a few weeks ago discussing Halloween costumes and Reese chimes in with, "Wait, how come we didn't do a family costume last year?!" I may have been throwing Tom under the bus, but it was true, "Well, Daddy doesn't think that you guys really like doing family costumes." The girls gasped in horror and Tom told me that he got an earful about that later. Turns out that they not only love it, but prefer it over picking their own individual costumes.

So after giving the girls a few different options,
Alice in Wonderland it was...
Not the most original idea, but it ended up being super fun with so many characters to choose from.
Alice
It was all very logical to the girls as they decided who we would each be. Reese, of course, would be Alice "because [she's] the only one with blond hair."
Cheshire Cat
And Claire would be Cheshire Cat since cats are her (current) most favorite animal. It was especially thrilling to be a PINK & PURPLE cat this time!
Mad Hatter
He was the only one we thought we'd have to sell on his costume, but he ended up selling himself.  The first couple times we put his hat on, he immediately threw it to the ground then ran off.  But one magical day, he put it on and shouted, "I a cowboy! Yeehaw!" then galloped off into the sunset. So a cowboy he was! And a happy little one at that!
The Queen of Hearts
We enjoy torturing our babies with being the bad guys, although Tom seems to think that I may have made a more fitting Queen of Hearts. How rude!! Off with his head!!

Reese exclaimed that she wished Halloween was every day. Although I have to say that my favorite line from her as we walked and walked and walked from house to house and her feet began to ache was, "It's kind of like we're the pioneers!" Well, our cause may have been slightly less important, but yes, such a rough, candy-filled life we lead!

Until next year! Happy Halloween!

Those costumes are simply adorable. I love how you do family costumes and hope you can continue it for many more years!! I get the "pioneer" comment a lot when we have to walk any long distances. I think they may have had it just a wee bit rougher than we do!!

Love everything about your costumes. And Leah - what a little doll! You guys are so awesome with your family costumes, I wish my family would get on board with that but alas, it's not meant to be.
