Because I Should Probably Blog It....

I think I've mentioned before that holidays and trips are my absolute least favorite things to blog about. Kind of lame of me because they should probably be the easiest, right? I think it's something about going through the billions of pictures and also the feeling that it's something that I have to do. I'm not saying that these things aren't/weren't fun. And I'm definitely not saying that they're not worth blogging about. I guess I just get a little blog lazy from time to time. But time to suck it up, Rachel! Christmas was great! And if you want to remember it, you're going to blog about it!

Christmas Eve and (most of) Christmas Day was spent at home and pretty chill.

I didn't take any pictures of the nativity cast, but I did get a little video that was pretty classic. You know, one of the historically inaccurate versions where "Joseph" and "Mary" fight and "Joseph" pulls the ol' try-and-pull-the-chair-out-from-under-Mary trick....
After our crazy little Joseph was put to bed, we watched Joy to the World while eating some dessert. (Those disturbing looking blobs of goo on the plate were actually quite delicious. We were running short on time so instead of fondue I just melted chocolate chips in a sauce pan and poured it over bananas and strawberries. Not very pleasing to the eye, but very pleasing to the belly.)

The excited little crew waiting at the top of the stairs on Christmas Morning!

Every year, right before Christmas, I start to freak out that we didn't get the kids enough, and that it's not going to be a super magical morning like I'm dying for them to have. Then after they open everything, I see it all together, and realize how incredibly spoiled they actually were. But this year we spent less than ever, and I was shocked to find that it was actually the perfect amount. The kids were happy and I didn't have that sick, I-just-completely-spoiled-my-kids feeling. I need to try and remember this!

Everett was super easy to shop for. Anything "Melmo" or sports ball related and he was as happy as a clam. I'm bummed this picture is so blurry because his face when (getting help) opening his Elmo doll is my favorite!
And this, my dears, has been the absolute best addition for our house (actually from grandparents). It happened to snow all Christmas Eve, but that didn't stop them from at least wanting to "ice skate".  Our backyard isn't super huge and neither are my children. So this size could not be more perfect!  On warmer days (which we've actually had quite a bit of) the kids will spend several hours out there. It makes me especially excited for its use in the spring and summer months.

The kids spent the rest of the day playing with their new toys...

while Tom and I packed for our late-night flight down to Vegas to be there in time for the Koch family day-after-Christmas celebration!

Is that trampoline a small size? What an awesome gift.

We scaled back this year too and I was feeling major stress about it....then it was totally fine. Not sure I loved being stressed about it....we will see what happens next year. But I did love that the kids were totally happy and not overwhelmed with too much.

I'm with you - when I know I have to blog about something, I don't want to. So weird. I'm glad you guys had a nice Christmas!
