Hmmmm. Not so sure about that one. There were some definite iffy behavioral moments around these parts during the month of December, but somehow Santa decided to stop by our house on Christmas Eve anyway. The girls responded quite well to the repeated "lump of coal" threats. It was mainly wild man E Tom who seemed to be begging for Santa to skip our house! Begging with shenanigans like:
-Grabbing an armful of freshly clean clothes from the laundry basket and throwing them in the toilet.
-Or his daily ritual of throwing all the couch cushions onto the ground and jumping on them.
December marked Everett's first official month with the time out chair. (Most of his hard time was for things like hitting and pulling hair. Does he get it? No. Soon enough though. Besides, we all get such a kick out of watching him sit there as we try and hold in our laughter.)
Reese was certain the time she pulled Everett aside and gave him a pep talk a few days before Christmas is what actually assured the visit from Santa. The conversation according to Reese:
Reese: "Do you want Santa to give you coal for Christmas?"
Everett: "Un-uh." (as in the sound of 'no'. Also the same thing he says to any question.)
Reese: "Then you need to be good. Okay?"
Everett: "K." (The same thing he says any time someone says "okay".)
Personally, I think Santa had mercy and saw the humor in a little 19 month old's antics. You lucked out this year, little man!

LOL - the bathtub pics have me CRACKING UP!! I'm glad you're a fun/patient mom and grabbed the camera. :) Man, our little families are such twinners. Calvin is driving me crazy, and I can totally see Jacey having that conversation with him. They will grow out of it eventually, right? PS your blog looks awesome. :)
What a little rascal!!!! But it definitely would be hard to stay mad at that cute little face!!!!
He's so cute. Your girls didn't do the couch cushion thing? my boys still do that quite often. Just wait till he starts throwing everything...at ceiling fans. And starts jumping from higher and higher precipices.
Oh the joys. And when he's 15 he'll read this post and say, "I was hilarious. Tell me more about the funny things I used to do!"
Ha ha! He's too cute. I love the new look of your blog!! :)
except for the clothes in the toilet shafer has done all of those things! It's a good thing they are so cute!
My kids are in big trouble if they throw cushions off my couch, AND they have to put them back on the couch. Putting all of my cushions back after they've thrown them off makes me crazy. Enough of my rant. I love your sectional, Rachel! And I love the mischievous pictures of Everett.
funny I have a similar picture of Kate fully clothes sandals and all in the tub with Miles. Haha. The trying twos have come upon us as well!!!
Too funny (at least looking back on it now!) We need to get our too trouble-making boys together!
Funny! Dulcie is starting to test all the limits too! It is hard not to laugh at their reaction to being "in trouble!!" The laundry in the toilet one is something I've never heard of before! The bathtub thing is so cute! And I love the new look of you blog! (Maybe it's not new but it's the first time I have noticed it!)
I love Everett's time out chair. I can't imagine he would ever do anything deserving of sitting there though. Mason wants to steal him and bring him to our house. ;)
As exhausting as parenting can be, you always seem to find the humor. Great pics!
Ha, I loved this post! Reminds me of the days Landon and I had a 19 month old boy :) Claire's Birthday looked like a lot of fun. You are such a great mom. We miss you guys!
