Tom's birthday present was a year's worth of date ideas (one per month). Our dates have been pretty lame since the arrival of little E. Tom so it was time to spice it up a bit again. I originally got the year's-worth idea from my friend Kari, then found one specific blog that had some fun and creative ideas all mapped out. They totally remind me of the cheesy BYU dates from back in the day (which in my opinion are the best kind!). I changed a few things up a bit and even added a group one for later in the year. Tom knows the name of each date, but doesn't know anything more. Here's the site if you're curious (you can't look, Tom!): A Year's Worth of Dates
Saturday night we went out on our first one..."Bowl Me Over". This was one of the simpler ones, but we had actually been wanting to go bowling for a while. I think we've only gone together one, maybe two times.
We started at the thrift store where we bought each other "bowling shirts" and wrote pet bowling names on the back.
We skipped the beer drinking game and just ate nachos. I know, how boring. And check out our amazing forms and follow through...
Fun fact: I was in a bowling league in the 5th grade..."The Strikers". We were kind of awesome.
Slightly less fun, but still a fact: I am getting old and pulled a muscle in my bum.
It was a real nail biter. Tom accused me of secretly rooting against him. I told him, "No, it's no secret." :) Really, we were just both relieved to break 100.
We ended the night out with dessert. It was so fun doing something a bit cheesy and different and we can't wait for next month's! And yes, you can look forward to monthly posts filled with more fabulous, grainy camera phone pictures.

Good job Rachel! You haven't lost your bowling skills.

Nachos, bowling and dessert. Sounds like a dream! Way to go beating 100. I'm impressed.
Love the "Year of Dates"! We had such a blast doing it... I think I might just have to do it again.
