2 Months Old (July 29th)

Oh my word, I love this kid! I feel like I'm finally starting to figure him out and that he's getting a bit easier. He was never really hard, but you know, babies in general just aren't easy. I actually call him my medium baby. Not as hard as Reese, not as easy as Claire. I know, don't compare....blah blah blah!

Just when I thought he would never give me more than 4 hour chunks at night he turned the corner. He's averaging 7-8 hours a night just as of this last week. Hallelujah! Oh, and he sleeps in his bouncer (off). (Reese slept in hers until she was 4 months old and Claire was in her swing until 4 months old. They're just more comfy a bit upright for the first bit. Whatever works!)

Another thing that has made life easier is that after an entire 6+ weeks we are finally over thrush! It was seriously ridiculous. It would NOT go away! If I didn't have my crazy pro-nursing husband I would have for sure given up.

He has earned himself a couple nicknames:
  • "Mr. Squeakers" and "Big Gulps"- these are both nicknames from Tom because of how loud he is. He makes us laugh when he eats. I've never heard a baby swallow so loudly! I got to go to Relief Society last week (I teach Primary normally) and I thought I could get away with feeding him in the back of the class (covered of course). People from across the room were looking at me and laughing because they could hear him. I won't even get into him pooping his pants during the closing prayer.
  • "Rett"- He's our first child with a longer name that we can actually shorten. We've tried a few out...Ever, Evers...but our favorite that we think will stick is Rett. We originally thought it would be a cool nickname for him to go by when he was older, but we like it even for now. It's also pretty cute to hear Claire call him "Wett".
  • By the way, I don't think I ever mentioned that Everett is a family name. My great grandpa, Clarence Everett, and my brother, Adam Everett.

He is so smiley and coo-ey. He will smile for most everyone, but I of course find it especially cute when his sisters get him going. Here Claire is trying to get him to smile for me by jumping all around making silly faces. Although it is possible that he may have just been laughing at her mullet. He hasn't had his 2 month appointment yet, but according to our bathroom scale he is creeping up on 14 lbs already! I've never had a child so solid. He has leg rolls! Yeah for leg rolls!

He won't take a pacifier. So weird for me because of my other 2 addicts. I'm secretly glad because I'm looking forward to not having to break him of it. Although he likes to gnaw on his hands...does that mean he's going to be a finger sucker?!

We hear all sorts of things as far as who he looks like. The most common is that he looks like a chubby male version of Reese. Tom thinks so too. I have a hard time seeing it though. I do see Bjorkman in him, but I swear that I see a lot of Koch in him. When he was brand new, he so reminded me of my brother Michael. Maybe I'm crazy.

Anyway, that's my cute little chubbers at 2 months!

What cute smiles!!! I definitely see the Reese in him. But I can see Michael too, now that you mention it. He seems to be a perfect balance. I love that you call him Rhett. Londyn wouldn't take a binky either, but she didn't suck her thumb either. I think I fed her all the time to soothe her. Thus she was my fattest baby. :)

I like hearing that babies can sleep through the night at 2 months old. I really feel like my next baby is my first in a lot of ways because the boys were so different than normal babies...the doc insisted that we wake them up and feed them and they ate every 3 hours till they were about 4 or 5 months old, to get them caught up.

Ha ha, the 14 lb thing probably helps tide him over at night! He's adorable. Chubby babies are so cute...and a great workout!

He's too cute. I love that you're calling him Rett. If we were having a boy this time Rhett was one of the names I love. I also think it's hilarious that he's such a loud eater. I love it!

He is just the most beautiful baby! I am glad he is sleeping a bit longer at night for you.

That first pic looks like a Bjorkman and the last two look like a Koch to me. I can't pinpoint what it is. But it's fun to see those adorable family resemblances. SO yay for sleeping for longer night stretches!!! I told you he'd be sleeping through the night by the time my baby is born.

And yea, I'm totally blog-nesting. Actually, I wrote like 12 blogs while I was on my 4 days of bedrest and have just been posting them slowly. But it feels GREAT to be caught up. Now I'm blog-printing-nesting. It's about the only thing I can do that doesn't involve bending over and getting winded!

Oh how I love those squishy babies!!! He has his own look, but definitely fits in with your cute family. 14 pounds! Wow! Ashley was 15 pounds at his age and I so miss those chubby rolls and the screw on hands and feet. So stinkin' cute!!!
