Miss Naughty-Pants Bjorkman
Reese and Claire apparently decided to play beauty shop in their room the night before we left for Utah. Silly us to think that they were in bed at 10:00 at night! They got in their closet, got dressed, then chopped their hair...."Mommy, we wanted to surprise you," Reese told me. Mission accomplished! Reese's damage is minor, but Claire...
Oh Claire!
Claire: "Mommy, why are you crying? It looks so beautiful!" I'm not sure these pictures do the "beauty" of it all justice.
It's been a little over a week now and the traumatization is just now beginning to wear off. For me, obviously. Claire couldn't care less. She's fully embracing her mullet. And she was definitely among friends as we drove through Wyoming last week. A little girl came out of the gas station right behind Claire with her exact 'do. Okay, so that may have made me laugh a little.

Oh no! It seems like that has to happen to everybody at some point. Hopefully this is the only time! You can't even tell it's cut with her piggies in her hair. I don't know why I didn't connect the funeral you went to to Wes. I spent a good long time on her blog last night and cuddled extra close to Will as I climbed into bed. So tragic but so inspiring too.
Oh Rachel...it sounds to me like you've already found the humor in this. The best part is the ammo you'll have in the future for Reese...who knows? Maybe she'll become some big hair professional. Think of the power you'll have!
Conversations like: you: "Reese we miss you. When are coming to visit your Dad and I?" Reese:"Oh mom - I'm just swamped with my makeover show on TLC - I haven't got the time." you: "Oh that's too bad. I'm sure I can arrange for you to come home once I send THOSE pictures to TMZ!" hehehehe
Oh, Rachel. I'm sorry. I remember you telling me the story of when you were little and your dad telling you to go cut your hair, so you did. I did it too. It's like a right of passage for little girls. At least she is adorable with the piggies and comb over.
Oh no!! She still looks cute despite the missing locks. I love Reese's guilty face.
Oh how sad!! It's a good thing that your girls are so beautiful and really you can't tell in her comb over piggies picture!
I'm so sorry, I can only imagine how you felt when you saw that. I'll admit though, I laughed out loud at those first few pictures of Claire. Fortunately, she's so cute that she can pull off anything and still make it look good! (and the comb over piggies are a good idea, you can hardly tell she cut her hair).
Once, when I was about six or so, Ryan Bybee and I were playing hide and seek and I got one of my braids (there were two) stuck on a bedspring. Ryan's solution was to cut the braid off. I remember my mom sobbing and sobbing and I remember not understanding why. It's a good thing that kids have such high self esteem that they can feel confident with any haircut, whether it's a mullet or one long braid and one nub.
Reese's face is priceless. This has happened at my house on more than one occasion. The comb-over piggies look great. If it's really bad on the sides you could always get her a bob and then grow it out again. We had to do this I think three times.
This is very traumatic for Mummy!!! The kids dont seem to care at all. Lulu did this twice ... the second time when it was just looking normal of course.
Both your babes still looks adorable even with the Wyoming Mullet ;-)
I can totally remember when Avery took Brian's razor down the middle of her head....The moment I realized what she did, my emotions went haywire. Your girls still look super duper cute!!
Reese! What a sneak. I told Ben that Claire had a full-on mullet, thanks to her older sister. When he saw the photos he was surprised that it wasn't much worse. Apparently he was imagining that the sides and front of Claire's hair were practically shaved off. Just remember, it could be worse!
That is one good mullet! I'm so sorry, that would have made me cry, too. Sophie cut her own hair a little while ago, but I caught her before she could do major damage (she doesn't have much hair anyway.) Claire is such a cute girl anyway, she makes the mullet look good:)
Did Tom ever tell you how he gave me a haircut? We were probably about the same age as Reese and Claire. Mom could just hear us laughing and laughing from the other room and thought to herself...This is great; my kids are getting along so well. She went to check in on us and to her horror, the majority of my hair was on the floor and Tom had the scissors in his hand. I didn't have a mullet, but a full on boy's haircut with super short bangs. You should see a picture...yikes! Yes, it is funny now...I think that mom was about in tears too...perhaps karma is out for Tom...sorry you have to be an innocent bystander...
The good news is that Claire is cute no matter what...mullet or no mullet.
The piggies work wonders. I wouldn't have known if Tom hadn't told me Sunday. Well, then Claire started telling me about it and the pretty bows that cover it all up. Funny girl.
GASP! Oh my goodness! I am so, so sorry. That is the worst experience ever! I thought I was upset when Sammy did it to Ashley... but, boy, was I angry when Katie did it to herself. Her hair was so long and I thought I would never get over it. It's still a sore subject, but her hair is finally getting long enough to pull it back into a single ponytail. Thank goodness for those piggies, though. At least you can't tell with Claire's hair when you have it done in piggies with the comb over. So sorry, girl. I know how frustrating that is. I think Heavenly Father made our babies cute for that very reason... otherwise I don't think they would live past 3. Love you tons and I hope her hair grows fast.
I have to laugh. And be grateful for boys. She is still adorable.
