It's A.....

Are we excited?! Ummm...YES! THRILLED actually! I have been so nervous all week and had an absolutely horrible night sleep last night! Tom compared me to a kid the night before Christmas. I fell asleep okay but woke up in the middle of the night for about 3 hours. I was just too excited!

This morning as the ultrasound tech got to an area that looked like legs, she right away asked, "You want to know the gender right?" As soon as she asked that I knew it was a boy because things were looking a bit different than what I was used to....one of these ultrasounds is not like the other. She then said, "It's a boy." Tom and I made eye contact and I kind of jumped and clapped excitedly. I don't know how to stay cool in moments like that.

Reese is so super excited too. She was really wanting a brother that she "can take care of all by [herself]". Throughout the ultrasound she kept saying, "Is that his private parts?" even if we would actually be looking at the spine or heart. It was cute. Claire has been pretty consistent with saying that the baby is a girl, so even during the ultrasound she was shouting out "Sister!" She doesn't really know what's going on though so I'm sure she'll get over it. :)

I know I could have ended this post with "It's a BOY!", but I like to ramble so here are my overall thoughts about having a boy:
  • I am so happy!!!
  • This may have been the first time that I had any slight inkling as to what it was....but just as of this last week. I definitely won't say that "I knew it!", but the last few days I kept feeling boy.
  • Now this is a sad one, but it turns out that Tom is not a seer. We always joked about that because before we even had kids, Tom had a dream that we had 3 little girls.
  • I'm excited that I get to continue living parallel lives with my friend Cynthia. Seriously, it's comical how much our lives pattern each other's.
  • I'm also excited that we don't have to talk Reese out of the name "Fagondus" like she was dead set on had the baby been a girl. No clue where that came from, but she's been stuck on it for about 2 months now. Fagondus Bjorkman. Pretty. ;)
  • I totally have to re-train my brain. Every time I'm looking online for crib bedding or in stores at baby clothes I go directly for the girl stuff. I just don't even think boy. It's like it's going to be a whole other language. I went shopping after the ultrasound for a boy outfit and came home empty handed. I only looked at Old Navy, but nothing really impressed me. I'm heading out again tomorrow though. I'm determined. Oh, I am super excited about boy Sunday clothes. I love little vests and ties.
  • I'm glad I don't have to do 3 little girls' hair every day. Every day? Who am I kidding. I've gotten so lazy with Reese and Claire that the thought of gussying up 3 girls was a little daunting.
  • We struggle with boy names! If anybody has any suggestions that go well with Bjorkman, send them my way.
And now just to show how lame I really am, I already have his (I love that) 1st birthday present ready to go. I bought it at a garage sale last summer just in case our next baby was a boy. I wasn't even pregnant, but it was $5 so I figured it wasn't too much of a risk.
Anyway, we are happy!

Yay for boys!!! And I can't help you with a name. Boy names are tough! I'm so happy for you guys, Rachel! I was really thinking that Tom was a "seer", but I'm kind of glad he isn't because you guys are going to love having a boy!

Congratulations! Boys are SOO fun! I love Josie with all my heart, but my boys are definitely momma's boys and there is just something really special about that. I'm excited for you! As far as a name, I don't understand why you don't just stick with Fagondus. I think it works beautifully for a boy...

So excited for you guys!! I had to "retrain my brain" when we had Cole. Boy names are so hard. My girls love having a baby brother. They are like 3 extra moms. They are such a huge help to me.

Congratulations!! Good luck on choosing a name. :)

How exciting!!! That little tool bench is so darn cute! He is one lucky boy with those 2 beautiful sisters, all his friends are going to want to spend the night all the time! :)
Miss seeing you too. I think we need to plan some get-togethers!
Congratulations on your little boy, boys are so special! (as are girls!!)

Did I call it, or did I call it? Thanks for reassuring me in my innate instinct for guessing genders! Just kidding, we are so super excited for you guys. The Bjorkmans need a little man to spice things up a bit. Congratulations!

I couldn't think of boy names either, which is why we went Biblical. Congrats! I don't know how it is to have girls, but I'm loving my boys! And you will love it too!

I KNEW IT!! I knew it I knew it I knew it. Woo hoo!! And I have so many comments to the rest of your post I don't know where to begin. So I'll begin at the end. Shut up, you did not get that cute workbench for five dollars. I hate you. Second, I TOTALLY hear you on cute Sunday clothes for boys. Remind me to post a pic of Calvin in his cutie sweater vest. :) Third, I went shopping after our ultrasound too, and was sorely disappointed in the selection. I've decided that there are certainly cute boy clothes out there, there just aren't as many. Not near the selection as with girls. Fourth, I LOVE not doing his hair! Seriously he can flush my cell phone and streak naked in church and whatever else little boys do to earn a bad reputation, but I will still call him "easier" simply for the fact that I don't have to do his hair! (Okay maybe not . . . I don't know, ask me in a few years.) And finally (last comment, I promise) I love that we get to continue our parallel lives!! (Only the Denver version features a cuter and more stylish Mommy.) Although don't think it didn't cross my mind that if your babe was a girl we would have have an ideal arranged-marriage situation on our hands. :) CONGRATULATIONS Bjorkman Family!! Your SLC counterparts are SO EXCITED for you!!!

Congratulations! Boys are wonderful (all baby are wonderful lol). The best part about this post was how excited you are.
You look gorgeous in your 20 week belly shot too.

I am so excited for you Rachel!! It took me a while to wrap my head around having a boy when we were having Landon. But man oh man has this little boy stolen my heart. I do have to say that little boy clothes aren't nearly as cute or as abundant as little girls, but there are still some cute ones out there. Congratulations...and now to see what a little baby boy Bjorkman will look like (if his sisters are any indication, he'll be a cutie-patootie for sure!!)

Way to get the post up fast. My cousin made a claim about her boys vs her girls that I have found so far true as well... Boys are more cuddly. Maybe it's their physical nature. The rough-housing and aggression will surely drive you crazy at times, but just remember it comes with an awesome flip side: more hugs, more kisses, patting your face, playing with your hair, and longer cuddles.

Yeah, boys are so much fun.

How exciting to finally get a boy. They are so much fun and so very different. You will both enjoy the addition I'm sure. Congrats. And I love that you already have a tool table. My boys got one of those for christmas this year. And they love it.

Oh CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! You will love having a little boy! We really struggled picking our last little boy's name out too. We finally settled on Ashton (late the night before we brought him home from the hospital). So fun that you already have his first birthday present! :) And no, there are not hardly that many cute boy clothes. But the benefit is, it saves $$$!!

Congratulations! I know exactly how you feel. With us having three girls it will be hard to reprogram if we ever have a little boy. I cannot believe you got that steal for $5! Good job! I have been buying boy clothes for cheap when I find ones I like, but then after only having girls I end up giving them away for baby shower gifts. And, we have one boy name we are holding onto and love, but I don't want you to take it! ;) Other names I like are Crosby, Jackson, Chance, Lincoln, and Jace. You'll find a name you both like eventually.
And, I would say a lot depends on children. I have two girls that are complete cuddlers and one that is not. It will be nice for you to go on mommy son dates, have Tom take him to the bathroom, and have someone say they want to marry someone like their mom.

I'm so happy for you!! And believe me...you had a boy at the right time because boy decorations/clothes have seriously come a LONG way even in the last few years! Yeah!!! :)
