Not only are "blossoms popping right before my eyes",
but Spring also decided to surprise us with a bird nest in the wreath on our front door!
I was coming in from jogging this morning (don't get too excited, it was my first time running in like 2 years) and I noticed something a little different. During my two weeks away, Mrs. Bird decided to take the opportunity to build a nest and lay some eggs.

Last year, another nest was built on a ledge by our roof. I didn't mind it other than the fact that there was gobs of bird poop all along the side of our house all spring/summer. So my first reaction to seeing the nest this morning was not a very welcoming one. It may have involved the word "crap!"
As a side note: I realize not everybody who reads my blog is LDS....The song my title refers to-"Popcorn Popping (on the Apricot Tree)" is just one of the cute and silly little songs the kids sing in church.

The girls are super excited about it though. Reese keeps wanting to see the eggs over and over again and gasps every time with, "Oh, they're so cute!" I keep having to tell her that we can't keep bothering them...Mrs. Bird frantically flies away every time we open the door. It's kind of awkward. Mrs. Bird and Mrs. Human are both feeling a bit territorial.
Does anybody have any recommendations? Do I just leave them there? If so, then the next time you come visit, you just may be greeted by chirping baby birds...and their poop.

Maybe the bird that was in the middle of building her nest in my front door wreath had to come to your house because I took it down! That is crazy that we both ended up with a nest in our wreaths!! Hey thanks for the chat today!! :)
You are nicer than me, I think I would have "relocated" the nest before my kids spied it. Good luck with the poop!
I forgot to mention that your tree looks beautiful! I love spring!
Hmmm....could that be a sign it's time for you to have another little 'birdie' too?!!! J/K
I can relate though, we knocked the nest down from this house when we bought, before the mother bird had a chance to nest in it again. Our house in CO had a mother bird take up residence there too, with her eggs/babies. I have no advice, just commiseration on the 'crappy' issue!
All I can say is that is adorable. I've never dealt with nests, so I guess I just don't understand the grossness of it. It fits in quite nicely with your homey wreath. I say keep it there until the birds hatch, and then move it. Is the poop that bad?
Wow that is amazing that they built their nest so close to the hive of activity in the house! I left a comment on Mrs F blog to invite you.
See you and thanks for your lovely comments on my blog.
Hello! Sent the invite. :-) Love the little blue eggs. They make me happy. Not sure why!
Those dang Robins - they're all the same. Totally making themselves at home where they're not welcome. I can't believe they stay in the door where it's opening and closing all the time. If I were Mama Bird I'd be afraid my eggs would go flying when somebody opened the door. But I think you've sunk yourself - no way would my girls let me move it once they'd seen it there. I wonder if you moved the wreath for a while if Mama Bird could find it? Like on the back door? Or the shed or something? Which would stink, because it's such a cute wreath. Maybe that's why Mama Bird chose it in the first place - she's just got an eye for good decor.
I can't believe that! How awesome! I hope all goes well.
That is so crazy. What a funny place to build a nest. I'm not sure what you should do. Probably just leave it. But that's annoying too. Once we had a bird that built a nest in one of our potted plants right outside our front door and every time we came outside it would start chirping at us and warning us or something. It would get so flustered at just our presence. Then one day one of my twins knocked the whole plant over (on accident)and problem solved. She never came back. Not that I recommend doing that. Good luck.
What fun!!! I'm sure it won't be fun when the mess starts, but how sweet for you to enjoy this with your girls. What a memory. I can't believe mother bird chose your front door wreath of all places! That's incredible.
