I'm Domestic!!

Who Knew?!?!

Thursday night I went over for a craft night with some friends where I was fully intending to just re-hand stitch some of the ties on Claire's crib bumper while everybody else sewed away. Instead I ended up joining them and making this....
As in I used a sewing machine. Me...a sewing machine! Mom aren't you proud of me?! I even learned important sewing terms like "seam allowance" and "pattern". ;) I of course had MUCH guidance and LOTS of help, but really, I overall made it. And get this....it was FUN! We didn't finish up with all our dolls until 2 in the morning and were a little slap happy by the end.

The super hero with all his lady friends
The next morning I woke up really excited and wanting to make another one. I called Amie (the sewing expert behind it all) to see if she would help me make one for Claire. She was so willing and sweet and let me practically spend the whole day at her house while helping me with doll #2.

The sisters

(don't look too closely at all the lop-sidedness. it was my first real non-straight line project.)

I can't wait to give them to my girls tomorrow morning for Easter. And there's no way the Easter Bunny is taking any credit.....Momma made 'em!

Those are so adorable, Rachel! I'd love to make one for Riley. Are the instructions online anywhere? And where did you get that adorable fabric for Reese's dress? Love it all!

Amazing. What a cute idea. I'm totally with you on the not being a sewer. Maybe someday I'll have a friend draw some craftiness out of me.

I LOVE those dolls! I've been tempted to make some for the girls but never got around to it. I hope you've caught the sewing bug! It's so fun! Great job.

Great job! Using a sewing machine for the first time is intimidating! And don't get me started on a pattern... I've been "sewing" for years and I don't hardly know how to read a pattern. I have to say I love the go-go boots! They turned out really cute and totally take credit!

(Sammy came into me this morning and said, "Thanks, Mom!" For what? "For the Easter Eggs." I guess she finally figured things out.)

I made two for my girls the week before we left for Vegas (Easter Bunny)--I should have given the credit to myself. Late night hours--it was so fun!! I think it must be the atmosphere of Amy's home and great talent that makes it so fun.....on to the next project!! P.S.--went to Vegas and had a lot of fun...we are now just trying to back to some normalcy!!

Whenever I make something for the kids I always am sure to give myself credit. No way is the whatever-holiday-superstar-it-is getting credit for all the time and energy. Plus I want them to look at it and think of me. It's funny because even though that is the case, I always still end up giving them whatever project near/on a holiday. I should just give it to them instead. :) Way to go on the dolls they look awesome!

Those are the most darling, darling dolls, Rachel!! I'm so impressed with your sewing skills and adventurous attitude. It reminds me of something my mom would have made for Laura and me. Looks like Reese loved hers. I love the picture of Reese holding Claire's hand, walking toward the hunt. Their opposing expressions are priceless. :)
