Wow-ee Maui

We were lucky enough to spend a week in Maui a few weeks ago!

View from our room

We headed there with my parents, my 4 brothers, their wives, and 3 nursing babies.

The handsome "best buddy dro"

Most of the gang enjoying a scenic view (and I hope you all are enjoying your own "scenic view" of their backsides)

A Beautiful Hawaiian Princess

One day was completely devoted to driving along the Hana Highway.
Here we all are at Banana Bread Point (Tom's not so surprising nickname for it). There was a little stand by it that sold the "World's Best Banana Bread." It was good, but think of the "world's best coffee" scene in "Elf". Can't anybody slap a sign up that says the "world's best....."???

It was quite a beautiful location...

and provided the perfect setting for Michael to squeeze in a few modelling shots to add to his portfolio.
(this was actually just a completely random guy taking his own pictures of the scenery who happened to get in this shot :) Love it!)

Some of the group going for an (ice-cold) dip along the way

A pretty waterfall off the side of the road

One morning, most of the boys and Amy got up early to ride bikes down Mt. Haleakala (a dormant volcano).

We even ventured out one night for a not so Hawaiian experience at an extremely entertaining Magic/Comedy Show.

Where were the babies you might ask?

Why, they were back at the hotel with our very sweet and brave volunteers.

Let's be honest though, having 3 nursing/napping babies along for the ride definitely slowed things down a bit.

The nursing momma's station

So a lot of our time was actually spent back at the hotel chillin' at the pool. Hey, I'm not complaining. I'm actually a fan of slower paced vacations. It's more relaxing that way.

And if you've seen my little family in person lately and are wondering why after spending a week in Hawaii we're even whiter than ever before...it's probably because we're still washing off the layers of SPF 50 that we had slathered all over our bodies. My baby-oil sunbathing days are long over as I am not too keen on the idea of skin cancer. Crazy, I know.

Of course the best part of any vacation is the company you get to spend time with. Even if it's just watching episodes of "Lost" together,

or playing games late at night,

or just crying on a couch together asking, "why me?" (check out Shea on the left!)

We had a great time and are very grateful to my parents for their generosity and also to Ginger and her family for taking such great care of our little Reesey-Piecey while we were gone! Mahalo!

I love all your Hawaii pics!!! I am glad you wanted an invite...I was going to leave my email address but thought that might be a bit presumptuous :) ha...I flew home with my fam to WA and forgot my camera cord to transfer all my pictures...so the Hawaii ones will be posted next week when I am baking back in Vegas! :) Hope you guys are doing great.
Oh...the private thing was there was something on 60 minutes about people who use things such as blogs to collect as much info as they can about you...even though I don't have all of our info sitting on our blog...there is enough if you read the whole thing :( I hate being private...but will try it for a while. I am just paranoid...more for my girls.

One time on a family trip all five of the married siblings had a newborn-we called where we congregated to nurse the "lactation station". Too fun.

I'm super jealous.

Your baby is growing so fast, she looks huge compared to her cousins! But she is just getting cuter by the day!!! :)

Green with envy over here! I wish my parents felt the need to take the whole fam to Hawaii. We'll have to settle for Lake Powell. Your pictures are awesome, looks like such a fun trip!

What a fun trip. It was fun to see pictures of your family. Marshall and I went to Maui for our babymoon right before our first was born. We were able to do a lot of the same stuff. Such a beautiful island and relaxing place to be. I would love to go back. Glad you had a nice trip.

I already saw a lot of these pictures on Michael's Facebook, but I love your commentary. The picture of the nursing baby station is so funny. Isn't it nice to have other girls around that also have to nurse? I felt like such a drag to everyone else at Disneyland. What an awesome trip! And I bet it's so nice to spend time with your parents and siblings since you don't get to see them very much.

Kari,

Yes, this is twice in a under a year and that was pretty random. It definitely will not be an annual thing, but yes I will admit that we have been very spoiled! I got the swimsuit at Dillards. I like it, but I had to make some adjustments. I actually had to add some brown bathing suit material in the center to keep everything from falling out. I HATE bathing suit shopping. Hate it! I really don't think companies understand how many different body types there are out there. You're so cute and petite so probably everything looks great on you though! But Dillards probably had the best selection out of all the bigger stores that I saw.

Thanks for the info Rachel - I just wanted to post and say thanks for the Swimsuit info! I wondered how you found one so modest. And ugh! I wish I could agree with you on my figure, but I'm chesty and it's so hard to find a swimsuit that works for me on top!

Have a great day!! :)

Love the picture of Claire in the pool. What a little poser. Sounds like a fun vacation. I agree, relaxing vacations are far more... relaxing. Sounds like everyone was pretty willing to just chill. And isn't that what Hawaii is really all about?

Some great pictures, and I am sooo jealous. Hawaii is definetly on my list of places I want to go to. Glad you were able to have fun with the family.

So jealous! That sounds like such a fun vacation. I love the picture of you three nursing your babies and the one of your bro. modeling. . .Ryan has been in Honolulu all week for a "conference" with his work friends so I'm really envious of all things Hawaii right now.
