We're home! The girls and I actually just got home from Las Vegas yesterday afternoon. I realize I left my last post kind of sounding like I was home already (although I didn't actually say that). It was kind of on purpose but really didn't matter since Tom was home anyway, but still, I like it better that way.
Moving on.
Reese had a pretty exciting couple of weeks down in Vegas. I seriously didn't have to think for one second about entertaining her. With all the cousins, aunts, uncles, doggies, kitties, momoos, and dadoos, Vegas might as well be called Disneyland! Because of all this excitement, I was pretty sure she'd be quite disappointed coming back to our boring old house. So imagine my surprise when this was her reaction....
I was shocked to see how happy she was to be home. She came right in the house, ripped off her clothes, put on her princess dress, then ran around the house for the next 15 minutes exclaiming all the things she missed. Some of my favorites:
"I missed my lotion!" then began slathering it all over body.
Grabbing a framed bridal picture of me from the living room--- "I missed mommy!"
"I missed my purse!" while looking through all the hidden treasures she hides in there.
(My absolute favorite) Running into my bathroom---"Mom, you missed your shower??? I missed my take-a-bath!!!" By the way, since staying with Ginger and hearing all her kids, I am now "mom." I mean, just imagine her embarrassment when she realized how uncool and juvenile it was to still be calling me "mommy." Little turkey!
We of course had an absolutely fabulous time in Hawaii and Vegas (which I will blog about later), but there really is something extra special about being back home. And it makes me feel good to know Reese agrees. Turns out Dorothy was right...there really is "No Place Like Home."

How cute is she!! I will be calling Colorado home very soon, you are gonna be my friend, right!!?? :)
So sweet--as usual! Welcome home.
Glad you're home. Can't wait to hear about all of your travel adventures!!!
She's so stinkin' cute! I do really miss having her here. It was constant entertainment....plus it kept Ben happy. The ONLY thing I don't miss is the diapers. Luckily she let me (albeit unwillingly) hose her down in the tub sometimes. It's been my trick since having to change Julie's diapers all those years ago.
Yes, now you're "Mom". I had a hard time hearing Ben say it. I tried for a long time to get him to keep saying Mommy, but it wouldn't happen with his older siblings saying Mom. Oh well. Hopefully her being away from us for a while will get her back into her old routine.
Hi to you to! I found your blog randomly one day and have enjoyed it ever since. You have beautiful daughters!
Can I just tell you how sad I am that I missed out on your little get-together:( Next time you come I promise I won't be puking everywhere!
The other thing I need to tell you is how freakin' adorable Reese is!! I love all the things she says:)
Wow, that was cute! I agree, it is always nice to come home!
Smart girl-there IS no place like home!
We have a matching dress at our house! :) I'm still sad that we didn't get together while we both lived in CO.
Mara went through a phase of calling me "mother" for a while. My family cracked up at hearing my three year old address me as Mother. :)
I loved that - Reese is such a crack up. Super cute!
for some reason, the video didn't come up in the google reader post i read, but i just watched it on your blog now. how adorable! reese is such a cute, cute girl. you must be so happy to be reunited. :) can't wait to see hawaii pictures!
Call me dense, but it's only since I read this post that I realize that Eden NEVER called me mommy. I guess i went straight from 'ma' to 'mom' somewhere along the way. Sad. :( But at least she doesn't call me by first name, like she does her dad!
That was funny, Rachel. Was that her potty she was caressing at the end? What a cute little girl.
