Call me crazy, call me obnoxious, but Miss Claire already had her first haircut at only 1 month old. During an ultrasound at about 36 weeks pregnant I remember asking the technician if she could tell if the baby had hair (yes they can tell in a regular ultrasound at that point) and the tech said, "Yes...(pause)...(pause)...well at least on the back of her head." I just laughed and thought the tech must not have gotten a good look at her whole head. I later joked with Tom about how our child was going to be born with a mullet. Well, she wasn't quite born with a mullet, just the look of a receding hairline instead. Without hesitation, Reese recommended her favorite stylist to us to help even it out a bit. So at not quite 5 weeks old we took Claire on over to Randi's for a trim.
She was very pleased with her haircut as well.
This girl has seriously been smiling from the time she was 3 1/2 weeks old. I know that sounds ridiculous, but we have multiple people that would swear along with us that it was not just gas bubbles, but rather in reaction to talking to her. And Reese was right from the beginning...Claire is pretty funny. During the day Claire will just be chillin' in her bouncer and will suddenly start squawking away. As soon as I look over at her she gives me a big smile and is then perfectly content. I guess that's just her way of saying hi.

I can't believe she's smiling and babbling already. What a doll. She's going to be smart like her big sister.
Aw, cute first haircut. I totally support you in that. Especially because the cut is so cute.
And really, you have the most adorable children ever. It makes me worried that mine wouldn't ever compare and I'd always know there were far more adorable children out there (well, at least 2). Ü
I think it's so funny how there are so many people (in our ward) that have posted first hair cut pictures and they have been in Randi's studio. Randi should be nominated for the best kid haircut stylist!
Love the new do Claire!
I love the haircut! She is such a doll!
Ha! I love it. I hadn't even noticed the pattern baldness in the pictures. Ironically, my sisters children spend their first 2 years with ONLY hair on the tops of their heads. I wish that she would follow your lead and just do a little snip-snip.
I love it!!!! She is just sooooooo adorable!
i'm so behind on blogging and just read your post on her blessing. She looked so precious! I loved seeing the pic of your family. I'm so out of it here--when did Julie come home????
I'm still waiting for Londyn to get that much hair! Love the pink polka dots too. Oh, and man the Koch family has grown. Have I already said that? Your blessing day post made me nostalgic.
She is absolutley precious!! I love that she is so smiley:) I cut Ridge's little tail off the back of his head when he was like a week old. I felt better after that:)
avery had that same onesie. it was oneof my favorites. we know all about receeding hairlines here! avery had such a bad one. she still has no hair in the front of her head - it all comes from the back! claire looks great. loving the smiles!
What a cutie! I love her personality already! I've been considering cutting Shea's gorgeous locks as well cuz of the same issue. Amy said she thinks the babies' heads just grow faster than their hair can keep up with and I think that is exactly what it is.
I'm SOOO jealous of all her hair! Claire has more hair now than Rowan will on her 3rd birthday! She is destined to wear a flower on her head forever!
Love the new do, Randi does such a good job! And that big smile is the cutest thing ever!
so cute...my SIL actually shaved her firstborns head because she had a mullet!
Sorry, I've been a slacker at comments... I absolutely love it!!! You're totally brave to cut Claire's hair so young. I really should get Katlyn's hair cut, but I think I have a little separation anxiety. Randi did a really good job, though. And I LOVE the little cape. How stinkin' cute is that?
PS. I hope you don't mind but I'm using some of Claire's pictures for a challenge I'm doing at my party.
She's adorable! My girls were baldies for so long I wanted to get them haircuts and never could. I'm glad you're out there beautifying the babies for the rest of us who had to wait forever! :)
Oh my gosh Rachel.....your new little baby is so adorable
Good for you, Rachel. All my newborns needed a serious haircut and we tended to it as well. There's nothing worse than long, shaggy, mangy newborn hair! She looks so cute.
