On Your Blessing Day
Dressed in white this special day,
Dressed in white this special day,
You are brought before the priesthood
To receive your earthly name
With which your family was inspired.
Held by those who hold authority
Held by those who hold authority
Who are guided by the Spirit,
Your name proclaimed and blessing pronounced;
Your journey to earth is now announced.
Author unknown, but it came along with the girls' bracelet on a little card.
Claire was blessed in my parent's ward on December 28th down in Las Vegas. Reese's baby blessing was done in the same ward on Christmas Eve 2 years previous. Although my home ward has been through many changes over the years (different names and many different buildings), it was still kind of sweet for me to have both my girls blessed in the same ward I spent my entire life attending until leaving home.
Almost everybody from my side of the family was able to be there. Jacob and Shelley couldn't make it because they were back in Maryland with their own little newborn (only 1 week old at the time). Tom of course gave the blessing and the others in the circle were my dad, David, Adam, Taylor, and Grandpa Bill.
All tuckered out after the big event. Now do you believe me that she's got a bit of chunk to her?

I really wanted the girls to each have their own blessing dress, but I also wanted them to share something. So they both wore the same little pearl bracelet. (Reese on the left, Claire on the right.)
It was a very sweet day with a very important blessing given by a very loving father for a very special little girl. We are so happy Heavenly Father trusted us with such a sweet and beautiful little daughter. Parenthood really is an amazing responsibility.

Rachel this post is so precious. I love the poem. This is going to be so neat for both of them when they get older. I love Claire's blessing dress.
I knew you must have gone somewhere. There was a palm in the background!!
We did the same thing - both kids were blessed in Bakersfield. It really did make it special to have our family around.
Oh - and Kessa wore the same dress on her big day. I recognized the lace - I love that dress - I hope to use it again one day
That is so smart to have them wear different dresses. When they grow up they can each have the one they wore! I wish I would have done that!
That is so cute to have them share their bracelet. I love that you went back to our old ward, its amazing how many people still live in the ward.
what a great weekend. how special to be able to spend it with your family. i love the blessing dress.
Wish we could have been there. Love that belly!
