A Trip Down Chubby Memory Lane

I was looking through some pictures on Tom's cell phone (which is my old phone) and I came across a few of these gems that I wanted to save somewhere. They're of my pregnancy with Reese and a couple of her first day.

The baby bump. Little did I know, it had only just begun. Sorry if this is too graphic for some of you. Deal! :)

Okay, now this is just plain scary. I've told some of you how swollen I got with Reese and here is a picture from then to prove it. That's what working full time and being on your feet so much will do to you. No ankle bones whatsoever! And check out the creases in front of my ankles. I could push in on my skin and the indention would stay there for at least 10 minutes.

For comparison's sake these are my feet today. Much better. I specifically quit work early so that wouldn't happen again. The sad part is that I have still gained, to the pound, exactly what I gained with Reese. I'm pretty sure the excess that didn't end up in my feet just went directly to my butt.

Actually, this is kind of crazy, but I had an ultrasound done at my last doctor's appointment (it's still a girl by the way) and my doctor almost laughed when he looked at my amniotic fluid levels. He said that average is 10 (cm???) and low is 5, and that my fluid levels are above 20!!! He said that they're still in the safe zone, but that it will just make my belly look bigger. Awesome! So this confirms that your sweet comments about me not being that big have all been lies. Just kidding. Continue the lies, and I will continue to eat them up!

This is Reese in her first 24 hours. It hardly even looks like her to me. I can't believe her super round face and super dark hair. And at first glance of this picture (at least on the cell phone because it's so little) I always think I see Darth Vader in the background.

I am certainly in no rush for Miss #2 to come, but seeing these is getting me excited. I so wonder what she'll look and be like! As of Monday I was dilated to a 2 and 40% effaced. But I am set up to be induced on Dec. 5th if she doesn't come by then.

P.S. I haven't declared #2's name yet not because I'm waiting to make some grand announcement but 1) we're still not sure and 2) even the one's on our list I'm trying to keep on the down-low because I really don't want to hear negative opinions. We got a lot of guff about Reese's name (which I love even more today) and I want to pick something Tom and I both love and to not be influenced if somebody doesn't like it.

Oh wow, those swollen ankles scare the crap out of me! (not that they're frightening; that wasn't a nice thing of me to say. It's just not something I look forward to when the time comes.)

I think it's a great idea for you not to tell people the baby name because of the comments. People seem to forget these are names you really like and might choose anyway. When my sister was born someone at school said, "We have a dog named Kelsey." What? Why would you say that? Idiots.

I do love how unconventional and cute "Reese" is. I'm all about non-tradional names.

Your ankles are looking downright lovely. :)

I was right there with ya on the extra fluid--I looked like I was carrying around a beachball at the end of my pregnancy with Eden. (I have super lovely stretch marks to prove it!)

Good luck! :)

We are getting so excited for you guys! The anticipation is killing me.

The other day my mom was looking on your blog and she thinks Reese and Jocelyn look alike. What do you think???

I hear ya about the name thing! Russ and I don't want to tell anyone our chosen name until she is born, because everyone wants to give you their opinion about the name....I just want to name her and if people don't like it... oh well! (We still aren't decided either)

I love the name Reese always have thought it was so cute. I am sure this new little one will be just as cute.

Your poor cankles, I mean ankles. :) I had them with Shelby. I had so much water weight on me with her. It was crazy. I worked full time on my feet with her pregnancy to though. Not to bad this time around.

So excited for you to have baby #2. Keep us posted.

Your swollen ankles look just like mine did. Painful memories. I'm totally with you on the name thing - you really don't need opinions. So excited to meet her! Good luck!

When I was prego with Sammy my ankles actually looked worse if you can believe it. My brother saw me at seven months and made fun of me. Andy thought the indentation thing was awesome... good thing I was on drugs and couldn't move my legs otherwise I would've kicked him.
The name thing... I say name her whatever you want (just please not anything like Bathsheeba) I hate when people give you scuff about it. With Katlyn, my sister started going through a name book and highlighted the ones she liked. (It was bugging her we didn't have one picked out yet.) She would say, "What about Rebecca?" I would tell her I really liked Becca, but didn't want Rebecca (not that it's a bad name) and she would tell me I was being stubborn and too picky. Grr! Good luck! I'm sure it will be perfect!

I have never had the swelling too much, unless the double chin that is still there counts!? I don't think they look too bad but I am sure they were not fun!!

I guess I look at the name thing a little different cause while I don't really change my mind when I hear a reaction I like to hear what people think just to see what the kids might say one day. I love Reese's name for a couple reasons, one of my favorite actresses is Reese Witherspoon, two it is different without being from another planet, three your daughter seems like a Reese and four she is just freekin cute so even if her name was Archibald it would work!! :)

I got those nasty big ankles during my pregnancy with Clayton too! After I had him I would just sit and stare at my feet. Justin would look at me like I was crazy because I was constantly saying things like, "look at my feet! Aren't they so little and pretty!" It's sad when that's the highlight of your life!

I love Reese's name - it's so unique and cute. It totally fits her! I'm excited to see #2 and hear what cute name you've decided to give her!

Good news that you've gained the same amount with #2. I've gained more with each pregnancy and lost less after each pregnancy. Certainly not a good trend.

My husband is the killer of all names. Any name I ever bounce off of him he can ruin. I use his expertise to see what the bullies at school will be able to come up with.

I love those pictures! That's crazy how much more swollen you were from standing all day long. Reese looks so little and I can tell it's her a little bit--but not much. Isn't it crazy how much they change even in the first day. I totally agree on telling people their name once you know for sure what it is and can't get any guff. I can't wait to hear what you pick! I love the name Reese, too!

We haven't decided on a name yet. I know I have a lot of time, but we knew the names for the first two immediately, so not being sure has been a little stressful for me. We have a couple that we are thinking about, but I'm with you - I don't want to tell people. I want us to decide without being influenced by others' opinions.

Yesterday when I read this I totally thought you had the baby. I so wish I could be there to see this little girl when she is born. I am so glad you aren't as swollen this time around. I bet you look so cute! I finally have a gift idea for you, keep a watch out the week after Thanksgiving. Good luck and keep us updated.

Isn't pregnancy just so flattering! I love seeing the real thing, swollen ankles and all!

Reese was an adorable baby and she is even cuter now! You are going to be amazed at how quickly you fall in love with this little #2. I can't wait to see her.

So at this point my baby weighs maybe 1.5 lbs and I have gained 15+ so I am pretty sure my butt and thighs are having the growth spurt right now. Giant belly coming soon!!

How far along were you with that first stomach shot? Please don't tell me 9 months!

I can't believe your swollen feet the first time! That's crazy. I bet you were nervous about having to do that all over again. Lucky girl this time!

And those pictures of Reese are adorable! I can't believe her dark hair. So cute!

I can't wait to find out the name of Baby Girl #2. I know it's going to be awesome because I love Reese!
