Oh What A Night!

Anybody who's talked to me recently knows how nervous I've been about switching Reese to a toddler bed. I found this cute little bed on craigslist a while ago, but I have been putting off actually using it for several months now with the thought that my crazy little lady was just not capable of staying put in something she wasn't caged in to.

But we decided with the baby coming (in only 2 weeks!!!) that last night had to be the big night. We figured it would probably be a battle, but were prepared to Supernanny Style the night away. We laid her down, left the room, and she immediately began to scream hysterically. It wasn't even defiance, but more like she was scared. I'm the world's biggest wus so I ran down the stairs sobbing myself then blasted the tv so I wouldn't have to hear her. I muted the tv after only 2-3 minutes and heard only silence. Beautiful silence. And that beautiful silence lasted until 8:15 this morning. Reesers did it!

Sure, it's only been one night and there may be more battles to come with this, but I'm so excited that we got through this first step. And....I only had to get up to pee 1 time last night. That's a miracle in and of itself. So even my sleep was actually somewhat restful. Well, right up until that dang alarm clock of my husband's. Whoever invented the "snooze button" needs to die. I despise it. Just get up! Okay, let's end this rant before crazy pregnant gets too crazy.

that's a very cute bed. and a cuter little girl sleeping in it. We had the same fears about Tyson when putting him into a bigger bed, but he did so much better than what we imagined. I'm glad it worked out so well for you!!

and 2 weeks? that's so soon!! Hope all is going well!!

Cute bed. You can find the best things on Craigslist. I am glad that she did so well. I was the same way with Shelby. But I think she was ready way before I put her in the big girl bed.

I HATE the snooze button too. Mark loves it. I could kill him every time he pushes it.

That bed is so cute! How do you always seem to find those screamin deals? Where did you get her bedding? Too cute. Congrats to you both for making the transition! I keep telling myself "Jacey was out of a crib by now" but I can't seem to make myself move Londyn out. Not without a reason to, which we don't have.

This story gives me some confidence. I too am scared to switch Gavin over to a bed. He sleeps so good in his crib. I probably will try early this spring. That bed is so dang cute. I am so excited for this baby to come. We love you guys. HANG IN THERE!!

Congrats!!! I hope she continues to be a good sleeper in the toddler bed. I hope Madi gets out of the waking phase and sleeps as well as Reese.

I'm glad that she did so well in the big girl bed! Clayton also did really well when we moved him. Our trouble came when we had to move Noah (I think he learned from Clayton that "big boy" beds are fun to play in and easy to get out of).

You crack me up that you only had to get up once to pee. That's amazing though! Hooray. I can't believe you only have 2 weeks left!

I've been contemplating the same change for Eden, and find Reese's experience to be so very encouraging! So do you just let her play in her room during her non-sleeping naptime? That's the part that I'm most apprehensive about.

Reese, that's great! Rachel, I am impressed by how easy the transition was for her. Maybe we'll wait longer with Aubrey, but at 15 months Katie took a week to get used to it. Naps were the worst, but Reese is already not taking those. You'll gave to keep us updated as to how it goes when the new baby comes and Reese sees her in a crib. Are you using the same crib for the baby or did you get a new one?
Yeah for only two weeks left! You are going to have so much fun with two little girls!

What a good little girl to stay in her bed. Abby actually took to it pretty well too, which was nice. Good luck during these next two weeks too. We'll be thinking about you!!

Way to go Reese!!! I still battle my 4 almost 5 year old! I love the bed/bedding. Did you make the quilt? And by the way, where in the world did you find that darling table and chairs? I want one in my size! I still can't believe you only have 2 weeks left. I hope it goes by fast for you. I swear that is the worst part of pregnancy... no matter what you do, you're always uncomfortable!
