Mommy & Me

A classic clip from the movie Baby Boom. (Forward until you get to minute 2:11.) It's definitely an exaggeration of stay at home moms, but I certainly do think there's a bit of truth to the competitive silliness that tends to go along with motherhood.

Our own Mommy & Me Classes...
I do want Reese to be well-rounded and intelligent, but I also want her to have fun and to just be A KID!!!

Swim Class

Tom was able to come one day and take pictures. Notice the instructor/kid standing on the side. That's ALL he does. He hasn't taught us a thing! Oh well, Reese still has a blast playing in the water.

Kinder-Music

My friend Shauna teaches different classes in her basement. Reese and I did a really cute Kinder-music class a few months ago. She was slow to warm up to it, but still seemed to have some fun.

Playing with instruments

The theme of the class was "going to the zoo." Here Reese is galloping like a zebra.

Rolling around like a polar bear

I can't quite remember here, but I think they were going up and down with the hula-hoop like they were on a carousel. Whatever it was, they had fun and it was cute.

Aw Baby Boom. Another classic I used to watch all the time at the Koch's house. I know what you mean about getting your kids involved in activities. I try not to stress about it (emphasis on try). Usually it seems like I don't have to go looking for things to put Rebecca in. The things she's done so far have all seemed to come to me.

I don't know how I missed Baby Boom, but I recently read a book called Momzillas that seems a lot like this movie. You wonder if people are really that uptight about their children's classes and educations.

I have yet to find a swim class that does much more than you show in your clip. I finally figured I would just teach my kids myself. They eventually figure it out if their exposed to it enough.
I'm sure all the professional swimmers out there will completely disagree with me, but I'm serious. I've experienced SEVERAL beginning swim classes where the "instructor" just teaches them to stick their face in the water and blow bubbles. No thanks, I'll do it myself and save some money at the same time.

I missed Baby Boom as well, maybe I'll look into watching it sometime. Swim lessons are the best! Our instructor was good teaching the kids to put their head under the water, blow bubbles, kick, reach, and played tons of games, which was fun. However, I think they are mainly there for CPR if an emergency were to happen since each kid is at their own level. At our swim lessons we had a life guard there so the instructor was able to help the kids a lot, which was nice. Reese looks adorable in her swimsuit and you look great as well!

I love that movie and I haven't seen it in sooo long! I love that scene because it is so true about some mom's these days! My kids are not usually in a million classes, but they have done things here and there for fun!

Swim lessons oh yes we did those only it was a very different type, it is the one where they teach even very young children how to turn over and swim enough to get to the side of the pool if they happen to fall in. It was great and the Lady came to my Mom's house for it! :)

Oh and the other day Skyler saw a picture of Reese at your parents house and was like "Reesey!" She got so excited to see her cute cousin, Shelley and I just thought it was sooo sweet!

There is an indoor swim pool at our rec center we go. Gavin has been loving it. I love Reese's laugh, she is such a happy little girl. We miss her.

Reese looks like she does enjoy the water. Your teacher looks totally hands on. He's totally getting a christmas bonus!
