Dear Harvey,

It appears that most of my friends and family agree with me that your toddler methods sound a little psycho. Okay, so it's only been a day or so with their comments, but I think it's been enough to make me feel validated in my initial "what the?!" reaction that I felt. I think my very own toddler may even agree. Just yesterday I was trying to get her attention about something (she wasn't necessarily upset, but just flat out ignoring me) so I tried your little cave-like talk, and you know what she did? She laughed at me. That's right, she flat out laughed in my face! So apparently she even thinks it's ridiculous. I guess you could write a "How to Make Your Toddler and Bystanders Laugh" book. But in the meantime, I don't think I'll be following your cave-like methods.

I haven't given up all hope on you yet though Harvey. My friends seem to think your baby methods are good so I'm willing to give those a try. I'm already ready and rarin' to go with "The Happiest Baby On the Block" DVD for #2.

Sorry Harvey!

Rachel

Haha, that's hilarious! Good to know that you liked the baby version, I may have to check that out for fussy #3 :)

I have "The Happiest Baby on the Block" and it's okay. I am not a huge fan of parenting books in general though. I think that different things work for different kids and, as a parent, YOU are the person who knows best how to deal with your kid.

I'm not surprised that Reese laughed, when Katie and Aubrey are both crying at the same time Damien will start fake crying and I'll follow, which always leads to laughter from Katie. If you think about it, if they are laughing then the tantrum has stopped and Harvey has thus reached his goal. Just a thought, but I don't think I'd feel comfortable throwing a tantrum at my age!
