Too Close for Comfort

For the 5 of you left reading my blog, and who are no doubt struggling to fall asleep not knowing if we got our free slurpees today....rest assured because yes, yes we did. Barely! Thanks to my persistent mother, that is. I kept thinking about 7/11 all week, then for some reason forgot about it several times today. So when we finally got there around 5:30 tonight we were greeted with the above "out of free slurpee" sign. That normally would have been an earth-shattering discovery for me, but pregnancy makes me do and think some crazy things. I thought momentarily that I didn't care and that I was just tired and wanted to go home. My deal-lovin' mom, on the other hand, did not feel defeated and would not take "out of free slurpee" for an answer. She called around until she found our magical location. And boy were we rewarded. Their regular small size was the one they were giving away free. For sure the biggest one I've seen in all my free-slurpee years!

(Momoo, my kids, and their cousin Clara)

Thanks, Mom, for keeping the faith and helping me through my temporary insanity!

I never miss free Slurpee day since I read on your blog a few years ago that they give away free Slurpees on 7-11. You guys totally scored with the free small size! And I love your earmuffs for the 4th of July. I used to be okay with fireworks, but the older I get, the more they scare me.

I Love, love, love that you got your slurpees!! I was at youth conference when someone brought up that you could get free slurpees that day and it made me smile thinking of you! I'm glad you got your slurpees with your sweet mom in tow :).

And that's what moms are for!!! And I can't help thinking how your kids are going to remember this tradition when they are all grown up and it will be one of those things they do that makes them think fondly of their childhood and their mom.
