Aw, Mother's Day. The day my own mother warned me years ago not to get too hyped up about otherwise I would be fully disappointed. Fabulous advice, indeed. The kids still fight and whine and don't magically get ready by themselves for church. And Tom (despite his best efforts) is always busier than I would like with church assignments.
That being said, there were some definite Mother's Day highlights this year:
1) Sleeping in until 8. That is sleeping in around here!
2) Reese presenting me with her drawings and multi-paged "poems" that she had been working on for days behind her closed bedroom door. ("Mom, don't come in my room." "Mom, don't look under my bed.")
"You're the best thing that could ever happen to me."???? I died of the adorableness!
3) Claire, feeling a little left out and quickly running downstairs to draw something for me as well....rainbow-colored butterflies and hearts. :) (Some little hands must have walked off with it because I cannot find it to take a picture of!)
4) A giant secret that I am not allowed to share. (Insert sarcasm and giant eyeroll from wife after being told to take this one down.)
5) Tom making my request of Zuppa Toscana (think Olive Garden) for dinner. Delicious!!!
6) Watching the Survivor finale and having the person that I wanted to win actually win!
7) Feeling way more flutters than usual from my little one growing inside. She was obviously trying to morse code "Happy Mother's Day" to me.
Hope you felt some extra love on your Momma's Day too!

What a sweet Mother's Day. I love the picture with you and the kids. Your hair is getting so long and your are gorgeous as always!! And of course those three little kiddos are as adorable as ever!
Congratulations on your upcoming Baby Girl!! Your first four have come in the exact gender order that our first 4 came in. I had made peace with being a Mom of mostly girls, and then who knew that I would end with 2 little boys? (Especially Ashton born nearly 6 years after Tyler, who had been thought the baby of the family for a looong time!). He was a fun little surprise!!
You look beautiful in that picture! Reese is adorable. What a writer!! And I am totally dying to hear the big secret. When you finally announce it, please say, "This was the big secret" so I'll know :o).
That's a good looking bunch, right there! What an awesome writer Reese is! She's a smart cookie. Just like your mom because that is dang good advice!
Hmm, my mom gave me the same advice about mother's day and I've always had a GREAT mother's day! You have a beautiful family!!! I'm glad you had so many highlights of the day!!! Can't wait to see pictures of your next beauty! :)
Yay for baby flutters! And I love all of the handmade gifts from Reese. I really wish someone would have warned me about Mother's Day. It really is a little disappointing every year.
Love the poems!! So sweet! Happy mother's day! :)
I actually had a good Mother's Day. This was the first year in over forty years I didn't get breakfast in bed. It was made up for by the other meals. Julie cooked lunch, we went to David and Amy's for dinner, and for the first time in my life I got the "You are Special" plate. Yes!
Happy Mother's Day to a mother I truly admire. You are so patient, fun, and committed, Rachel. And after seeing poor little Claire's HUGE boo-boo, I think you deserve a medal this month!
