The rumors are true...I'm 32! I know, 32...boring! I guess it's not a very exciting age. I was even grouchy for the whole first half of the day. I've never been grouchy on my birthday. It was because it was Sunday. And I HATE getting everybody ready for church so I'm generally kind of grouchy in the morning. I need to teach Tom how to round-brush. Not to mention that it was fast Sunday. But I won't even pretend like I fasted. Sorry, think I'm the devil if you must, but I think you should be exempt from fasting if it's your birthday. Tom kept teasing me, but I told him he had no right to judge as an end of the month birthday-er who would never have to face this difficult decision.
I was actually kind of quiet(ish) about my birthday this year (stop laughing Tom), so it was such a cute little surprise that several of my little primary kids told me happy birthday. One even made me a card. And when they were about to sing to the birthday kids in sharing time, one of my boys shouted out, "Wait, there's one more!" So I was up there with all the kids. That was funny. Needless to say, church pulled me out of my birthday funk.
But the real birthday de-funkers were my top secret little family members. All day Saturday and Sunday, Tom, Reese, & Claire would run into the "secret room" (the office) and discuss their birthday plans. After dinner I was told to go upstairs for a little while. When they called me down, everything was decorated with purple balloons and streamers. Reese had come up with the idea of a purple theme since she knows it's my favorite color. So adorable.
And even more adorable was the little sign they decorated with all my "favorite things".

Me with 2 more of my (actual) favorite things...

And a new favorite thing...

Tom's little invented ice cream cake--oh my word!! Every year I say that I want an ice cream cake, but it's just never happened. This year we were going to buy one, but when I saw how much they cost I told Tom nevermind. ($25+ for a cake seems ridiculous!) So Tom made his own version of an ice cream cake for me. Chocolate graham cracker crust, Reese's peanut butter ice cream, topped with melted chocolate chips, then refrozen again. A-freaking-mazing! Go ahead...I know you're just dying to pin it! ;)

Thanks everybody for the birthday wishes and calls!

What a cute family you have!! Love the little poster. Sunday birthdays are super lame, especially getting ready for church. There's just no taking a day off from that. But aside from that, I'm glad you had a pampered day!
Happy Birthday, Birthday buddy:) 32 is so boring...and farther into 30 than I want to be :) but we will rock it!:) That ice cream cake looked so yummy!!!
You are my kind of girl. I love I've cream cake and never want to pay to buy one. I'm sure Tom's was delicious.
That cake looks amazing! I decided to give up sweets for a month and joined pinterest at the same time. Bad decision, considering 75% of my feed is sugar related.
How sweet, those are the best birthdays! That part about fasting was hilarious!!
Miss seeing you guys!!
Mmmmmm. I could so go for some of that cake! PB/Reeses flavor is my fav too.
You seriously kill me! I loved your commentary about fasting and Sunday birthdays, it took me a good minute to stop laughing. Happy Birthday, I'm glad that you have some good de-funkers in your household!
Happy Birthday girl! I am glad you were able to get out of your funk and have some fun. I love you tons and glad your a part of my life. Thanks for being born! :)
Happy Birthday! What a great cake! :)
I'm glad your primary class got you up front and out of your funk. Wish I was there to sing to you. :)
I love not only that you didn't fast, but that you admitted it on your blog. You're no fake blogger, that's for sure.
Tom rocks at making things special and getting the girls involved. I'm glad they were so sweet, and so was that cake apparently.
