Shhh...don't tell Claire, but she and Tom went on their first daddy/daughter date. This little momma's girl has been playing hard to get for the past several months and has repeatedly rejected Tom's date invitations. We finally found a way to trick her though.
Tom very casually asked her last Saturday morning, only an hour before, if she wanted to go climb on the bear statues (some climbable statues she and I had found the week before). We knew she wouldn't be able to resist! Bears, after all, are her most favorite animal. She was very excited with this idea and was even sure to ease Tom's fears...."Daddy, do you think the bears are real?!.......They're just pretend!"
We even tricked her into posing for a first date picture. "Claire, go over there by Daddy and I'll take a picture of you pretending to be a bear!"
"Rarrr!"
Doesn't she look old in this picture? I can't believe she's almost 3!
And as if climbing on bears wasn't fun enough, they also went into the "Dumb Friends League" to pet doggies and kitties, then Subway for lunch. Doesn't get better than that!
Tom told me that this was his best first date ever. And he meant it. Rude huh? :) If anybody's going to beat me out, I guess it's okay if it's my daughter. He said she was so talkative and just had the cutest little comments.
Glad you had fun on your "trip" with Daddy, Claire! He sure loves you!

How fun! I love that you guys "tricked" her into her first daddy/daughter date. I think Josie will be going on her first date on Valentine's Day.
She totally looks grown up. It's a good thing you have another baby or else this would be super sad (maybe you don't get as sad as I do when you realize exactly how old your 'babies' are getting).

So cute! Our kids jump at the chance for a date. I love that they love the time alone.

That is so cute. I absolutely love that Tom does that with your girls. What a fun thing for them to remember. He's such a good dad!
I might need to share this story with my hubby because sometimes our little sunshines give him a hard time, too. :) SUCH a sweet little date, though. So cute.
I can't wait till our little girl (6 months) can go on Daddy Dates. How often do you do them?
