that we have a full blown 2 year old in our midst!! Claire has been two for 3 months now and I'm just now getting to writing about her. Oops! (I already feel sorry for baby #3.) She is such a little firecracker. She makes me laugh and pull my hair out equal parts each day.
She's not very "2" as far as getting into things, but she is so very "2" in the sassy department. Just yesterday I was painting the girls' nails and I told Claire that she had to be patient (for the second coat she was demanding) and wait until I was done with Reese's. Her response..."No patient! I don't want to be patient!!!" That really could be the theme of her life right now.
Some other things about my sassy yet adorable Claire!
1) She LOVES to be held and really doesn't like to be alone. Especially after nap time. She follows me around the house yelling things like "I want to hold you all day!" or "Wait for me!" Or when I walk up the stairs she'll stand at the base and cry very dramatically, "Don't leave meeeeee!!" Sounds cute, right? Sometimes it is. But let's be honest, sometimes it's kind of annoying that I can't walk into the other room without her freaking out. I will say that I simply can't resist when she comes up to me and sweetly says, "Cuddles?"
2) The very common Claire pose is a favorite around here.....
3) She is a great sleeper.
I can count on about a 3 hour nap each day from her (it's usually no shorter than 2 1/2, but I sometimes have to wake her up after 3 1/2 hours). Can I get a hallelujah?! This is a major treat for me seeing as Reese was pretty much done napping by this age. If Claire tries to fight going down, we just tell her that Caillou is taking a nap and that seems to do the trick....anything to be like her boyfriend.
And we've only had one climbing out of her crib incident. I about freaked a couple months ago when I went in to get her out of her crib and instead found her running in circles around the room shouting, "I did it! I did it!" She was so pleased with herself. I was fearing that that would be the end of her crib days, but luckily she hasn't done it since. Thank goodness!!
4) She loves dogs...just like big sis. I know kids like animals, but I swear that my children are especially CRAZY about them. Claire even informed me that she wants to marry Rosie (my parents' new dog) when she gets bigger.
5) Her bestest little buddy is Piper. They actually kind of fight a lot, but Claire still loves her like crazy and asks to play with her tons.

6) Claire is also quite in love with Reese and they really are pretty good buddies. They're actually running around together upstairs right now making some sort of huge disaster. They love playing puppies, "Simon Says", and other random games. Tom and I get a kick out of the "game" Claire invented called "lations". It makes no sense, but the girls find it hysterical. They hold hands and sway back and forth saying "lations, lations." They are trying to say congratulations. Even with that clairefication (Tom made me do it), the game still makes no sense.
Reese "reading" to Claire on their new magical bunkbed. It has been a month since we got it and they seriously play in there every day for several peaceful hours. Definitely magical!
With all that being said, Claire really knows how to push Reese's buttons. I don't know where in the world she learned this from, but Claire will go up to Reese and say, "Ha, ha!" She says it really slow and drawn out and in such a mocking way. It makes Reese so mad. So sassy! But coming from a 2 year old I will admit that it makes me laugh.
7) I can't tell if I'm just forgetting how much 2 year olds talk or if Claire just says a lot. And it's not even just the actual words she says, but how well she expresses herself. Her thoughts seem very complete. Every day I'm telling Tom something new that Claire said that surprised me. I of course can't think of any good examples right now, so instead I'll just tell something funny she did a couple weeks ago. It was about 1 in the morning and Tom and I hear over the monitor, "Raaaachel?! Raaaachel?! Where are you?!" First of all, why was she so wide awake? And secondly, when did I become "Rachel"?! It was definitely cute, but not cute enough for us not to ignore her.
So that's our 2 year old in a nutshell! We just love her so much and the fun & spunky personality she brings to our family!

Our kids LOVE our bunkbed too! William always asks me, "Can I go play on my bunkbed?" Who knew that a piece of furniture could be so much fun?! We got it to create room in the boys tiny room, so I'm happy that's it's doubling as a play thing.
What a cutie. I love all of her little quotes.
Love the insights into Claire. I've missed your blogging:).
Happy belated Bday. I was thinking of you yesterday, but then got slightly distracted when I fell going down the stairs while I was holding Sawyer. Luckily, he's fine after a trip to the ER to make sure and my tailbone is slightly bruised. But I hope you had a wonderful day!
She is the cutest little sassy thing!
Love the pictures of her favorite pose. Too cute. I love that she says "Cuddles?" Freaking adorable. And I love that they play together. Sisters are the best. I love seeing my girls discover that. I'm glad you had a good birthday!
Rachel, I just love your girls. I wish my girls were close in age like Reese and Claire. They will love having each other even more as they grow into adults. You'll be so happy you recorded all these sweet things, too!
Cute, cute, cute! I love Claire's "sassy-ness"!
So cute! I love that they just read together on the bunk beds! It's fun to hear other people's stories of their dramatic two-year-olds! Delaney also cries if I run up the stairs and she is feeling left behind. Wherever I go around the house she is usually on my heels. The "Claire pose" is so cute too!! Cute girls!
Oh the cuteness. I need to get one of those magical self-entertainment beds! I also need to post Ruthie's 2-year-old post! I hope our mutual blogging backlog is due to pregnancy and that baby #3 won't get too short changed.
She is so adorable with those full lips and those squeezable cheeks!
The bunk beds look great, and how nice to give you some time to yourself. That's great Claire is still napping, and hopefully you get some nap time in there too.
Do you have any birthday pictures?
I almost started laughing at myself for how many times I was laughing out loud while I read this (and the pink eye--been there--and the birthday) post. Claire and my Miss B seem like they would be good buddies, indeed.
I'm actually glad to read that Claire flips out if you leave the room without her. I haven't had any of my children tell me that they want to be held all day, but I do get the freaking out about being left "alone" (even if I'm 5 steps away in the hall). Good times. :)
Happy belated birthday!
