was lame. Totally kidding. It was actually really great! It was weird though because I can honestly say that this was the first birthday where I wasn't thinking about it the whole week before (I know, I'm like a kid). Even the day of, a couple people said happy birthday and I found myself thinking, "oh yeah, it's my birthday." So not like me. That really must be a sign of old age, or maturity, or maybe just being pregnant and totally out of it.
Anyway, I was completely spoiled. The night before my actual birthday, a few of my friends invited me out for a late dinner/dessert. Girl time is so precious and needed! And the next day my sweet friend, Marissa, had me over for lunch and then took Reese for the rest of the afternoon so I could relax and sleep while Claire was down. Heaven.
Tommy boy totally pulled through too. He not only headed home after seminary earlier that morning to make me breakfast, but on his way back out the door he told me to check my email throughout the day for "clues". He had hidden love notes in different places throughout the house.
Good boy. Just the sort of thing I eat up!
Then later that night he and I went out on a date. Nothing too fancy. Just dinner and ice cream. But it was one of those perfect dates. I'm sure I'm sounding cheesy, but it really was just one of those nights where the conversation was so great and I just couldn't get enough of being around him.
Okay, bored yet? Well the next day my birthday kind of continued. Tom watched the girls while I redeemed my Christmas (yes, Christmas) present from him....2 awesome gift cards. One for a massage. And the other for some of this...
Do I really even need to say what it is? Well the restaurant is conveniently located right across the street. He done good. Massage+Lamb Tikka Masala (-Children)=Joy! And yes, one of the only pictures I took from my birthday was of my food. People? No, that's okay, apparently all I want to remember is my food.
I know, a whole post about my own birthday. Some of you are so good about being humble and not even mentioning your birthday. You may be wondering when I'm going to get over myself. I'm aiming for 40. Don't worry, I was snapped back into reality the next morning when Pink Eye joined our family. :)

I love hearing about your birthday! I also am like a kid when it comes to birthdays! Glad 31 was great!
Your commentary seriously cracks me up! I wish that my posts were as witty and funny as yours. I guess atleast it gives me something to shoot for, right? Happy Birthday, again, late.
Happy birthday! It sounds like your birthday was 'thirty-fun' too! I'm the same way as you, I usually get inappropriately excited each year about my birthday but for some reason 31 wasn't as exciting to me. It's okay though 32's gonna be HUGE!
And yes, I'm pregnant. I haven't actually made an official 'announcement' but sadly, I'm already huge so I figured I should do something to combat the rumors that I'm having a very rapid and specific weight gain!
Happy birthday!!! I'm so glad it was wonderful. We love you so much and miss you tons!
Happy Birthday to you :-)
I am so glad it was a good one and you got some "me" time. Your husband is very creative too.
PS the curry looks so Yum!
