Last night Tom, Reese, & I went to see Shrek the Musical. It's in town for a couple of weeks and I was so excited at the chance to go. I love, love, love Broadway plays so this was totally my dream night out (other than the ridiculous traffic to get there!). My fellow Broadway lovin' mom was actually supposed to come to town to see it with Reese and me, but couldn't at the last minute. Total bummer. Tom ended up taking her place though and we turned it into a fun family date night (minus Claire of course). This was Reese's first big play and she was absolutely beaming. She was so excited to get dressed up and go to "the theatre". "Mommy, can I wear this dress to the theatre?" Nevermind that I'm pretty sure she originally thought we were going to the movie "theatre". 
The play was super cute and fun and she and I were totally dancing in our seats. And as if Reese wasn't beaming enough from the play alone, Daddy sneaked off and surprised her/shocked me by buying her Fiona ears when it was over. We usually don't go for (overpriced) things like that, but in his words he "wanted to turn a great night into a magical night" for Reese. And he certainly did. She couldn't wipe the smile off her face!
It was definitely a fun and magical night for all three of us...
But one of us in particular seemed to have had especially sweet dreams....

That looks so fun! I can't believe she lasted through a play! My parents wanted to take Declan to the Nutcracker but I thought he might not sit still long enough...maybe I am wrong! Love the Fiona ears!

I think it was meant to be. I was sad that I couldn't go with you guys, but I'm sooo glad it turned into a "magical" night. Oh, "the magic of Shrek and Disneyland", that turns practical Dad and Dadoo into fun-loving magical Dad and Dadoo. So fun to hear and see how excited Reese was. Someday we'll have to go to New York again, and go the the THEATRE. LOVE YOU REESEY!!!!!!

I love that you have those family outings that are more than a date at the park. You guys are the best parents EVER! It looks like you had a great time and she'll remember how cool you and Tom were for getting her Fiona ears. So sweet!
And congrats on baby #3! Yay! That is so exciting! I hope you start feeling better soon... almost through the first trimester. Wahoo!

What a lucky girl. She was probably beaming more because of the time out with just mom and dad. Its so funny how much they LOVE one on one time w/ us. It makes them feel so special. I love that she slept in her ears.
