I get to show the fun, outgoing side of Reese's personality on this blog, but out in public Reese can be SUPER shy. You know, to the point of frustration as a mom. So I didn't think there was even the slightest chance that she would get up in front of a whole big group of kids and adults and talk. And because our primary is so HUGE, the talks are given in the chapel up at the big microphone.
Welp, my little lady proved me wrong. Not only did she get up (with the help of the example of her friend Sadie giving the prayer right before), but as I whispered in her ear, she repeated every word super loud and clear and with the cutest little intonation.
There are 3 members of the Godhead.
Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost.
The Holy Ghost is the 3rd member of the Godhead. (redundant, I know.)
The Holy Ghost is a spirit and speaks to us in a still, small voice.
The Holy Ghost can help us know that Heavenly Father and Jesus are real and that They love us.
The Holy Ghost can protect us by telling us things that we should do.
When I turn 8, I will be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost.
I am grateful for the blessing of the Holy Ghost.
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
This was a big moment for her to be so brave and Tom and I were beyond proud. Way to go Reesey-Piecey!

Way to go Reese! An expertly written talk, as well. :)
nice work! there are plenty of kids way older than her in our ward that refuse to get up and give a talk! i'm impressed! she must have great parents as examples!
oh - my brother and his family are moving to denver! i'll let you know if i ever get a chance to get up there to visit so we can get together!! hope you guys are doing great.
That is FANTASTIC! So far in primary I have said the prayer and Mike gave the talk...but she had the Article of Faith last week and Annie actually LOOKED out at the primary and whispered the words!!! YAY for progress :)
That is a big accomplishment. I had to help Rebecca say the scripture two Sundays ago, and she just cried in my shoulder the whole time. And she's 5.
What a big girl!
Oh, so cute! I just love when the little sunbeams get up and do their first talks! She looks absolutely thrilled!
Good luck with the nursery thing, too. I totally feel for you. Ashley hated it for the longest time... and Katie says the minute the closing prayer is done, "Is it time to go to class?" And then she clings to me when she gets to the door. Crazy girls! I want to be able to play and eat snacks during church... well, at least do it and others think it's appropriate. :)
It's so much awesomer when they totally do what you don't expect them to do! Way to go Reese!
YAY, Reesie! It is so funny that you and I both got shy girls! Neither of us is shy at all!
Oops, guess I'm commenting as Evan. Lets see if this fixed it.

Good job Reese! Maybe you can give us a repeat performance next week!
That is impressive. I haven't even thought about a primary talk, but I'm sure Brady will have one soon enough. Great.
It's funny you mention Reese's shy-ness. I never knew she was shy until I met her. That was definitely a big feat for her, so way to go Reese!
Way to go Reese!
That's amazing that she said the whole thing. I have given the scripture 4 times because Averie still refuses to get up there. She is almost 5. Who knows when she will find the nerve. Reese is quite impressive.
