We even showed up all decked out in our very first successful family costume. (We've tried for several years now, but were either too late ordering a costume, had an uncooperative supposed-to-be-wearing-her-cow-costume child, blah blah blah.)
Reese was Curious Georgette (a little distracted with a cupcake in this picture). Claire, our darling banana. Tom, the Man with the Yellow Hat (of course). And I was Professor Wiseman. I'm pretty sure nobody (or at least very few people) knew who I was supposed to be though. Professor Wiseman makes many appearances on Curious George and we're pretty sure she's The Man with the Yellow Hat's special lady friend.
I mean really, why wouldn't he want her?!
Reese doing the cupcake walk. She had no idea what was going on, but whatever...there's a cupcake at the end!
Hanging out after dinner
Actual Halloween afternoon Reese and I made our traditional Halloween sugar cookies, then later that night we all headed out for some dinner at Chipotle. Our good buds, the Donohues, gave us the hot tip that Chipotle gives out free full size burritos on Halloween if you dress up like a burrito. Hilarious. And if you know us cheapos at all, you know we have very little pride when it comes to getting free food! So really all you had to do was wrap a piece of tin foil on any place of your body and you were set.
Some of us went right along with the burrito dressing flow...

After dinner we tagged along with the Donohues for a fun night of trick-or-treating.
Claire and Piper all dressed and ready to go! You should have seen Claire when she fell over and couldn't get up. So funny! It looked a little like this...
The little buddies
Group shot
The escaping babies
This age is so much fun! Reese and Sadie were such cute little trick-or-treaters. They waited so patiently at each house for their candy and were always sure to say thank you. Reese probably could have even done without the candy at the houses that had dogs. The dogs were treat enough!
Hope you all had a great Halloween too!

Wow! You had a busy Halloween. I heard you guys were getting snow. Good thing you all had warm costumes. The girls look adorable--they are growing up too fast. Love the burrito thing---hilarious!
what a great looking family!! great costumes. i'm very impressed. you are way more festive than we are. looking at the costumes made me start to sweat because they looked a little warm. the i saw the picture of the snow and realized that we dont live in the same place anymore!! we were all in shorts and t-shirts while the kids went trick or treating!!
not sure who the holiday is more fun for - the kids who get to go trick or treating or the parents who benefit from eating the candy!
I love it! Will's family always makes the grown-ups dress up for the halloween party at their house, and I have never been into it. But maybe if I could come up with a fun family theme like that then I would have a better attitude about dressing up. I love those fuzzy warm ON costumes. (Is the banana old navy too?) Oh and you make an awesome Prof. Wiseman.
LOVE the themed costumes. (Your glasses are classic!) The last picture freaked me out. You've already got snow?! I'm not ready for winter yet!!
Your posts crack me up!! and the facial expressions of your girls are even funnier!!! Next year...totally doing the burrito thing!!! Your costumes are awesome!
What a great post! I love the costumes. And when is Reese gonna appreciate the value of a free meal already? :)
You should have seen the snow just a couple days before. A LOT of it had melted by Halloween. The temp. was absolutely perfect for their warm costumes that night. Not too cold, not too hot.
And yes Cynthia, if you read this again, both their costumes were Old Navy. Claire's I got on ebay and Reese's off craigslist although I saw they had the same monkey costume (just a lighter shade) at Old Navy again this year.
What a cute idea for the whole family to dress up. I've wanted to do something like that the last couple of years too, but it just hasn't worked out yet (laziness combined with a whole lot of procrastination and a little bit of hubby animosity to the whole idea, you know.) Those costumes are way cute and what a great score on yummy burritos too!!
So cute. I love the costumes. I need to have everyone in our family dress up!
It is so cute/cool how you guys all dressed up together with a theme. Next year, we need to do that...whether Eric likes it or not. Rachel, when Andrew saw your picture with your goofy glasses, he started laughing...no joke. You definitely caught his eye;).
You guys rock!! Love the costumes and your family!! :) LOL
Oh my goodness - you guys are too funny with your coordinating costumes! I love it. I try every year to get Justin to do a "family-themed" costume but he never goes for it. Cute cute! And Claire as a banana - awesome!
Awesome costumes, especially that darling little banana. Brady was the same way about the dogs. After a couple houses he'd ask if the next one had a dog and kept peeking through windows. What a fun age for trick-or-treating. They finally get what's going on, but they don't mind you tagging along.
Oh my gosh. That is the cutest family costume I've ever seen. My daughter would have loved seeing you guys. George is one of her favorites. And I totally would have known who you were.
Love the costumes! Tom, you're a good sport, but Rachel, I think yours is my fave! Crazy that you guys already have snow!
Yes, I totally agree that Yellow Man and Prof. Weismen are secretly in love. Glad you brought it to the forefront.
I love Reese's little pink slipper shoes under her brown monkey costume. That just says "girl" to me.
Baby burrito (and baby banana) is an absolute doll. When can I come over to babysit and let Ruthie play?
