Back at the beginning of August, (the day after my parents left actually) we loaded up the car and headed out to the great state of Idaho. A Bjorkman Family Reunion had been in the works for months and it most certainly did not disappoint.
So what happens when you get 22 Bjorkmans all under one roof?
(Obviously not all 22 of us...just the biggest group shot we got. By the way, you can't tell too well in this picture, but I recently cut my hair into a long A-line. I'm so "now"...or maybe so "5 years ago"??)
You get...
LOTS of gourmet cooking,
ALL the fruits and vegetables come from their HUGE garden and orchard. Amazing!
Uncle Les was even our guest chef for an afternoon.
but even more gourmet treats.
Grandma "Borkan" was so sweet to make cookies with Reese our first day there. Then later in the week she made brownies and donuts with all the kids too. Fun grandma! You also get a bit of pestering,
There's also quite a bit of physical activity,
Basketball, tennis, and golf to name a few.with a bit of relaxing on the side.
Then there's plenty of water time,
A fun afternoon in the backyard

Tom, Reese, and I all went jet-skiing for the first time too!and even a fun day at the Boise Zoo.

It was such a great trip and was really fun to all be together. I most definitely did not marry into the stereotypical nightmare in-law family. These people are so wonderful and have such a gospel centered home. They are fantastic examples and make you feel so welcome and happy. Thanks everyone for making it such an enjoyable trip! Can't wait for 2011.

I must say I am very jealous!! So glad you guys had such a fantastic time!! Love all the pictures!! :)
Hi Rachel! Loved this post! I just got back from a trip of my own to Idaho to meet the fam of this guy I am "dating"....I couldn't agree more about Idahoans (not sure what people from Idaho are called)-they are wonderful, and I felt so happy and welcome with them! I'm glad you're a Bjorkman!
Your fam is so beautiful!
Love, Sha-nay-nay!!
A bonus to posting a month late is that by the time you post forget all the little things you intended to say for each and every picture and all you're left with is the pictures. Sure saves time typing! I'm very jealous of the Borkan garden. Not that I want to weed it all, I just want to eat that strawberry Reese is holding! And I am totally expecting Tom to cook me up some home made donuts next time in CO.
Hooty, that's funny. Reading it back does sound like maybe I did forget what we did, but really I just like concise and to the point trip posts. Too many details get boring in my opinion. ;)
What a fun reunion. It sounds like a good time was had by all. I especially love your haircut. I think you are so 'now'! (Although in fairness I think I live in a bubble so maybe I wouldn't know...)
I just want to know why you have your hand up Tom's shirt in that first picture. It seems a little awkward to be holding his pecs during a photo with the family but that's just me.
I had to look at the first picture again... and then laugh at the comment above. That's funny!!!
I still can't believe you were that close and we didn't see you. Andy works only a couple blocks away from the zoo! I'm glad you had fun, though.
And so sorry about the bummer potty training. It'll happen when she's ready. Good luck when it does!
I try not to comment more than once but I needed to say that when I see the title of this post my first thought is, 'No, you 'da ho!'
Apparently I'm 12.
Looks like such a fun trip! Ah, Idaho. Such a pleasant place. Your girls are always dressed so stinkin cute. I need you to be my personal shopper.
I am so bumped we didn't get to see you while you were here. Very cute pictures... looks like fun!
Is this Tom's parent's orchard? Wow, is all I can say. Totally jealous. P.S. Tom must have taken a break from shaving on that trip...looks a little like Dave w/ his mustache when he takes a break!
