"She's Beauty and She's Grace"

Tom teases me by singing those lyrics (from Miss Congeniality) every time I trip or fall down...which seems to be A LOT. Not that he's being mean by the way. We just find it funny how I sometimes even manage to trip over air.

So Thursday's incident was probably not too surprising other than the fact that I had to get stitches (my first, by the way). Sorry to disappoint, no paint cans or flying food...good guesses by the way. :) It was just the boring old corner of this:

I was leaning down to pick something up and BAM!!! It's not even that sharp of a corner. The funny thing was that I didn't even think much of my head at first because I was busy checking my teeth. The impact made me bite hard and weird and I honestly thought that maybe I chipped one. I finished feeling my teeth then realized, "oh, my head hurts." So I put my hand on it and felt the blood gushing out. It really only bled bad for a few minutes then slowed down quite a bit. I didn't think it needed stitches, but after talking to Tom and a couple friends I decided it was probably just best to go get it checked out at the urgent care up the street. I'm glad I did. Sorry for the graphic picture by the way. It really does look much better in person unless maybe you have a magnifying glass on my head. :)

As far as our paint colors, here's a little shot of the green in the kitchen. I'll take full pictures of everything once we have everything done and back in place.
I really like how it looks up against our cabinets. We used to have an ugly minty green everywhere that I pretty much hated right from the start. It just took me 3 years to re-do!!! I suck at the figuring out what color part so our good friends the Donohues came over and helped us pick exact colors and just where we should put them. I love how they've painted their house so I was excited for their opinion. So in the connecting room, we're doing a light tan color along with a chocolatey brown. We still have super crappy furniture, but I think the paint will help doll the room up in the meantime.

And what a difference a couple days have made as far as Claire's sleep goes. Last night, we laid her down at 6:45 and she fell asleep immediately without a peep, then I didn't hear from her until 5 when she was hungry. That was about the length she was going before Hawaii except then it was still taking 45 minutes of crying at the beginning. The 4 hour time difference seemed to really throw her off. It just took me a while to gain the courage to let her cry it out again and now with the extra obstacle of being unswaddled. She was starting to squirm her arms out too often so we decided it was time to give it up. It's amazing how quick they can learn once you decide to really toughen up. We're still working on the napping. She's falling asleep on her own completely now, but not sleeping for very long stretches. Argh! Oh, and Debbie, yes, I LOVE white noise. I'm kind of obsessive about it actually.

I think you are very graceful... I don't think I've ever seen you trip. Can't wait to see the finished product of the new paint color. What a relief that Claire is sleeping better... I will keep my fingers crossed. Love ya... miss ya.

I love that color with your cabinets too. Very nice. I have to admit I was hoping for a bit more dramatic of a stitches story, but it's probably good to keep the drama on TV. Hope it's not too painful. Glad Claire is sleeping better, it's so tough to let them cry but it's amazing how fast they learn once you do.

That truly has to be one of the more disastrous un-graceful moments you've had. Cracks me up that you checked your teeth first. I mean, it makes sense, but it's also very Rachel.

I'm glad you're loving your paint colors. Be careful when you get paint advice. If you hate the color, can you really undo it and still keep your friends? When Antho and I moved in our kitchen was painted a funky avacado/minty/I-don't-know-what-the-heck-but-it-was-ugly green. We painted over it with a tan that matched the joining living room (we're boring). But then we found out that people in the ward helped the previous owners pick the color. The rest of the house is so cute that I can't help wondering if they hated the kitchen color too, but felt obligated to keep it. Hmmm.

You know, it just makes you more interesting, the tripping thing. :) I like green, I think I want to do a room in my house a sage color, but yeah, I don't know much about painting myself!

That color is wonderful! Funny how green was so overused at home when we were younger, that I always said I'd never use it. Now, however, I absolutely love the color, and I have to hold myself back from using it on everything. I agree, the tone of green looks great against your cabinets.

Are you going through a growth spurt? It seems that's the only time we trip on air around here.

The green looks great! My entire house is one shade of off-white; even the baseboards and ceiling are the same color. Time to get crackin', isn't it? I notice that your walls have a pretty deep texture to them, which is how ours were in Arizona. I swear that's what make the painting such a pain in the butt, because it makes the edgework seep a lot, and it takes more layers on the wall to catch it from every direction. But it looks like you did a fabulous job!

Oooh my own little shout out! :) I'm a big fan of white noise (or any for that matter) and I think my kids can now sleep through quite a bit because of it. Love it.

I'm gonna have that song stuck in my head now, maybe I'll have to go watch that movie tonight.

I know that I have commented already but I have to say that I miss you guys. I just spent the last 1/2 hour going through old posts on your blog and it brought tears. I miss all those fun times we had together. I miss my friends. I miss having Gavin hang out with Reese. I miss our girl nights. I miss our game nights. The list goes on and on. Friends like you don't come around too often. I would really love to get that video you made for us... could I buy it? I also would love to get some of the pictures you have of Gavin and Reese. Love your guts and miss you!!!

I love the color you chose. I'm a huge fan of green on walls and will be glad to be done with the "white-wall" look when we're done renting.
