It was complete with 30th birthday cupcakes,
some fun gifts (a couple golf lessons and a wallet),
a romantic dinner out to The Macaroni Grill
(oh wait, it's somehow not quite as romantic when you're leaning over a little person),
and a double surprise birthday party with our friends the Donohues. (They also had their second girl just two weeks after Claire.)
Ryan and Tom have the same cool New Year's Eve birthday and didn't know it. Miriam and I very sneaky-like planned a simple surprise party for them. Poor boys though...let's just say that they felt a little funny blowing out birthday candles together.
The guests seemed to have a good time and showed great enthusiasm...
For some it was over the pure joy that lil' smokies bring to us all.
For others it was the chance to stay up a little late and eat "nummy" cake and ice cream.
But for my birthday boy, it was for the opportunity to play ping pong all night! (We sold our table 2 weeks ago.)
Some guests however, were less than thrilled with all the partying. Every party needs a pooper, that's why we invited CLAIRE. "Party pooper" certainly has more than one meaning in this case. (She, by the way, is being such a little champ with our ongoing thrush issue. She's even being a sweetie and sleeping 6-7 hours straight at night.)

I love that you guys have two girls. I think it connects Andy to Tom a little more... or he feels sympathy for the poor outnumbered guy. Either way, I love it. I'm glad that Tom had a great birthday and in case he didn't get our comment... I love that Tom is buddies with Andy. That was something that Andy really needed in Colorado and looked forward to his "guy's night" with Tom. I also love his laughter and sense of humor. We always have a blast when we hang out with you guys. It's been way too long and maybe it's time to do it again! We love you, Tom!
What a fun night of partying for Tom's big day! It's safe to say that Steve feels the same way about little smokies. Also, you know you're really in trouble when a "romantic date night" is only taking one munchkin along.

Look at you, Rachel! You look great. Sorry I missed out on sending a favorite thing about Tom. I just got the message when we got back in town Monday. Kevin said that his favorite thing about Tom is his laugh, of course. My favorite thing about Tom is that of all the boys who were in love with you, Rachel, you chose him. He really is the best of all of them. (I hope I'm not offending any blog stalkers by saying that.) Happy Birthday, Tom!
