We have been blessed this go around with a fantastic eater! She is ALWAYS hungry. Her ravenous little rooting reflex makes us laugh. I thought Claire seemed to be chunking up nicely, and that was confirmed to me when I took her to the free lactation consulting program my hospital provides. The lactation consultant lady laughed as she weighed her. She told me that generally they just want babies to regain their birthweight by 2 weeks. But apparently Claire is a bit of an over-achiever/eater because in only 1 week she not only regained her birth-weight, but also gained an entire pound over. As of Tuesday, she weighed 7 lb 9 oz. At this rate she should be able to catch up to her older bird-eater sister by the time she's 6 months.

I actually have to limit her (ie only feed her on one side each feeding) because she sometimes over-eats then spits it up. This may be too much info for some of you, but I have pumped a few times and each time I've produced about 9 oz. That's basically enough for triplets at this stage.
By the way, that's where this little beauty comes in handy. My sister-in-law Nora told me about it and I would have to agree that it is quite the little gem. Each little compartment holds an ounce. It just freezes your milk in the tray like ice cubes so you can just decide each time how many ounces you want instead of using a whole bag. Pretty nifty heh? I don't know the real name, but I like to call each ounce of milk a boob-sicle.
My mom wanted Tom and me to be able to keep up with Claire's eating habits so she came out not only to help out with the girls, but also to make us super yummy food all week. Go ahead and eat your heart out Koch family! That is in fact Chicken Paprikash you see before you! Thanks Mom!

I can't believe I'm the first to comment!!! Hee, hee! Seeing Claire seriously makes me want to have another baby... don't tell Andy. I love that hat! And I'm jealous your eating yummy food. Could you send that recipe my way? I still remember eating that at your house with the Moller's. Yummy! Way to go Claire on being an over achiever/eater. We love the chubby babes. By the way, I thought of a name for your blog... I thought of it while I was sleeping, woke up, and had to tell you. Big B, little b, what begins with B? 2 baby Bjorkman babes, B B B. Sorry, I know I'm cheesey.
PS. Thanks for the comment on my blog. When I told my grandpa what Andy said, he replied, "Is he sick?" I'll admit, Andy only rolled his eyes a couple times, but didn't complain.
What a total doll!!! Claire is too cute!!! And how nice it is to have someone else cooking for you...we loved to have my mom come to Hawaii for that reason alone :) And that boobsicle tray is quite a nifty little idea...if my daughter only took a bottle...ha!
Where do you find the boob-cicle maker? I think it is a fabulous idea! Oh and she is just so cute! Are you going to Vegas for Christmas?
Oh...I forgot on my last post...yes, I make my blog headers, I know that they aren't anything near what others can do or anything, but I try!!! And thank you for the compliment!
Holy Cow!! You are a lactating machine!! I'm so jealous. I have never actually produced milk so I never got to nurse my boys so I'm extremely jealous that you are so 'lactationally gifted'. The boob-sicle thing made me laugh out loud. I love it!! I want one just to be able to tell people what it is. Where do you get one? And Claire is adorable! She's going to be a chunk! Those are the best kind of babies!!!
You know, I was like you and had no problem producing milk. It is both a good and bad thing, as I'm sure you can relate!!
Yay for Claire and her healthy appetite!! I love the name Claire, by the way!! And yum that chicken dish sounds good, post the recipe!
2 things.....LOVE the fuzzy hat....and boob-sicle? I laughed too hard at that one. Wish I was able to pump like that.
OOO I wish I had one of those milk-cube things that would have been amazing!! Maybe the next go round! She is sooo beautiful and I love that she is such a great eater! My kids have never had trouble in the eating department!! What a great Mom you have! You must be her favorite!! :) hee hee
Add me to your list of laugh-out-louders at the boob-sicle comment. I mostly laughed because without getting a close look at what's in the pan, your mom's chicken could be misinterpretted as floating boob-sicles she's trying to thaw for dinner. Hey, if you're pumping that much you could probably spare some for the rest of the family.

That's great that she is eating so good and gaining weight. What an awesome mom for cooking you guys such yummy food. I talked to Amy H. and she told me that she saw you guys at a church outing. She couldn't get over how cute your little Claire is. I agree I think she is adorable. I love the hat too!
I'm impressed that you have found some time to blog. I'm glad. It's great that Claire is such a great eater - makes life easier huh? Ruthie is chunking up fast too - and she's a spitter upper, but I think that's starting to taper off now (fingers crossed). Ok, question about those boob-sicles (love the name :o) - how do you defrost them? Oh, and I'm craving chicken paprikash. Can you email me (or post) the recipe sometime?
She is so cute! And you are so lucky to have such an awesome eater. I generally produce enough milk for triplets in the first few weeks as well. Needless to say, it is not too comfy. Where did you buy those boobsicle trays?
I haven't been on the computer much lately, so I was excited to see pictures of your new daughter. She is SO ADORABLE! Congratulations! I can't get over all your posts. You have a knack for this whole blogging thing!
She is growing so fast, an of course following in her older sister's footstep in the looks department. You have 2 beautiful little girls. I am so happy Claire is here to join in our girl parties.
I also am curious about the Boob-sicles (which should be their patented name). What are they really called and where did you get it? The bags work good for us, but for our next kid maybe we'll invest in those. They look easier to store.
Claire is beautiful, and isn't it nice when you don't have to worry about them not getting enough to eat?
She is so adorable! She doesn't look chunky to me, but how awesome that she is eating well and gaining weight! She's so cute! And I love all that dark hair she has. And that hat is too cute!
I wish I had known about those milk freezer thingies when I needed them. Those are so cool!
We just wanted to say CONGRATS! ANd Merry Christmas! What a beautiful new baby! Hope she and her big sis are treating you well and that you're able to get some rest!
Lori and Wes
She is adorable!!! Where have I been!? Love her name even though I was really pulling for "Leah" Can you blame me? She is a dark haired dolly and I agree that she has your eyes!
You'll have to find out where she got her boob-sicle tray! That is wonderful!!
+1 point for using the word "boob-sicle"
+1 point for posting a pic of Claire with her eyes open!
Really cute.
Good job "milk" maid!
Claire is so lovably squishy and cute!
So cute Rachel, love the hat she is a doll, it was so fun holding her..totally precious!
