Nothing! Absolutely nothing was done! After being patient for almost 2 weeks I finally called them this morning since they NEVER got back to me. I was supposed to hear from the district manager a week ago and never did. The manager answered and this is what he said, "The videos were reviewed and other attendants were interviewed and no legal action has been taken. One of the employees was reprimanded though." Oh fabulous. I wasn't asking for legal action I just wanted her out of Kids' Club. I then asked him if she was still working back in the Kids' Club and he said yes, but that she would be quitting at the end of the month. So that's good, but I'm kind of miffed that I feel I wasn't taken the least bit seriously and that I have had to go out of my way to go to a further away 24 hr Fitness in the meantime. Principle alone it still really upsets me and I don't think she should be allowed back with the kids period. But at the same time I don't really feel like fighting it now that she is quitting at the end of the month anyway. What would you do?! Am I getting soft in my old age??? And I don't mean my body because that's a whole other topic!!!
I also meant to mention that one of the reasons I know I was not taken seriously was because the asst. manager told me that whenever either I or the other lady who complained about Maria came in he would be back there to watch the kids. So the week after all this happened, I dropped Reese off, the asst. manager guy went back then apparently left right after that. When I went to pick Reese up it was only Reese and Maria in the room together. I just felt like they didn't care.
Oh well, I'll stop complaining...she's leaving.

Sounds like your complaint has resulted in some action. I'm sure she's quitting as a result of being disciplined. That is lame that they never contacted you though. And she should have been let go....
I don't think you're soft; you did all that you could. And, if she is quitting then you got what you wanted the result to be- that she won't be around Reese. That is the important thing. Too bad you have to attend another club to avoid her. Good luck for the next month.
Honestly, I don't think her quitting has anything to do with this whole thing. I really do just think it was random. He didn't say one way or the other to me, but honestly his tone and everything just sounded like he didn't care. I guess either way, she's outta there and I won't have to worry about it. It's kind of annoying that I still have one whole month before I don't have to worry about Maria being in there though. And Tom's pretty insistent about her not watching Reese ever again. I just think in the meantime she should not be aloud back with the kids. She was hired to be a front desk person...not to work in the Kids' Club.
I am so annoyed with this whole thing. Why would people who obviously don't like kids apply to work with them!?! Maybe if you and a bunch of other moms got together you could do something about this. I know that she is quitting and all, but apparently they aren't monitoring their kids clubs like they should be. I'm really sorry, that's super frustrating!
How frustrating. At least she's leaving. You know, one day this Maria is going to have kids of her own, and one of her kids is going to have a mean babysitter or teacher or some other adult in their life, and she won't be able to do a thing about it. This will come back to haunt her some day.
Are there any other clubs (as in, not 24 Hour Fitness) in your area? If you're not stuck in a contract, I would just cancel my membership and go somewhere else. I actually got pissed off at 24 Hour here in Vegas recently and switched to Las Vegas Athletic Club. 24 Hour has some serious customer service issues, and they obviously aren't doing anything to fix it.
I would have LOST it on the phone and demanded to view the tapes. That makes me so mad, I want to punch someone in the face.
I'm glad she's leaving but I'm surprised 24-hour didn't do more. I probably wouldn't do more than you already have. This experience of yours had opened my eyes to be very aware of who I leave my kids with.
If you really want to get their attention write a letter to the local television news station about it. You will see 24 HR Fitness really start to jump through some hoops.
I agree that you should call the local news station about it. Don't let them get away with it!! 24 Hr. Fitness does have customer service issues. Several of us have talked ourselves blue in the face about the music that they play in the early morning at the gym in Vegas. It's just a bunch of us "old" people there at that time and they insist on playing rap music and such at a very high volume.
I'm going to call News 13 about Rebel gas stations letting people smoke when they play the slots. I have had the same problems with their corporate office and someone said that is their policy not to confront smokers because they have been known to become violent. What a crock! You know I'm not going to let it die. Come on Rachel, this is our precious little Reesey(and other children too)you're defending! I know you're tougher than that!
I like the idea of contacting a news station. Or a newspaper. I also think you should get with some of the other moms and contact their corporate office. They need to know how unprofessional it was. I would mention that you've had to switch locations because of it, and that your concerns were not properly addressed and even set aside. Now that time has passed you should be able to write a pretty level-headed non-emotional letter that hopefully they'll respond to.
Huge gyms piss me off. And now I'll never even consider 24-hour, just on principle. We'll call it the Reese Principle.
I would at least make sure she is actually quitting! They might just be saying that to appease your mind. I would also speak to corporate and let them know nothing was done to the lady and management did not take your complaint serious enough.
go for broke!!!!
