Tom just got back from his grandma's funeral (which unfortunately Reese and I were not able to make). I didn't meet Grandma Bjorkman until about 5 years ago and by that point she had already started slowly declining, but I still grew to love her all the same. She definitely kept me laughing and was always so happy when we would come and visit.
She was especially happy when she got to see "Bright Eyes." (Grandma's nickname for Reese. I was always referred to as "Bright Eyes' mom." Reese's eyes aren't bright in color, but I think she was referring to how big they were.) Reese is 5 months old in this video and I don't think she quite knew what to be thinking. :)
Even during the visits that I was sure Grandma wouldn't quite remember us, she always seemed to and for sure always remembered "Bright Eyes." Grandma Bjorkman also said some of the best things. One of my personal favorites was during a visit where she grabbed Tom's hands and said, "Your hands are really white. That means you don't do any work." Amen Grandma! JUST KIDDING Tom.
We love and will miss Grandma Bjorkman, and I am so glad I had the chance to know her even for the short little while that I did.

Very sweet sentiments Rach. BTW, I hope you're feeling better after that crazy last week and that you have a car again.
Sorry to hear about grandma. Your video footage will be priceless, especially to Reese someday. (This is Amy, by the way)
I love that video of "bright eyes" and Tom's grandma--I think that's just too precious that Reese had such an adorable nickname. I laughed that you were known as "bright eyes" mom.
I also hope that you're feeling a little better...pregnancy just saps all your energy--especially when you already have a baby to look after?!?
What a perfect name for Reese. I didn't know Grandma Bjorkman called her that. I think we should start using the "bright eyes" name.
So sorry to hear about Tom's Grandma. I'm always amazed at people who still have their grandparents alive since both Brent and I lost all our grandparents before we got married. I'm happy that you got to have so much time with her though. She looks like she was such a sweet woman - with a great sense of humor!! Get to work, Tom.
I assume Grandma Bjorkman had Alzheimer's. My grandma has Alzheimer's, it's so sad to see her forgetting things. I love Grandma's! I am sorry to see her pass on. She is definitely in a better place! Very nice tribute to her.
Great Grandma's are the best! That is such a cute name for Reese- she really does have beautiful eyes. My grandma called Riley, "angel" and that has always stuck with her. So you will have to remind Reese of that when she gets oler:)
Aww I am soooo sorry to hear that, it makes me miss my Grandmas! It makes me think about how grateful I am for the sweet memories I have of them before they passed. Tell your hubby that my thoughts are with him, cause even when they are not well and you know it will happen it is still hard.
Sorry for your loss! I am so glad you have these great memories of her!
Nice post. I was thinking of doing one but haven't gotten around to it yet.
We can't wait to see you in two weeks.
