Presiding Bishop H David Burton said it best.
I just finished watching President Hinckley's funeral and wanted to write my thoughts very quickly while they're still fresh.
What an incredible man! He will always be such a special prophet to me. He has been in the first presidency for almost my entire life. I'm not even old enough to remember him not being there. And I feel so lucky to have been in the same room as him several times. BYU devotionals, a General Conference, and in the Celestial room during the Las Vegas Temple Dedication so many years ago. I've always told people that looking at him alone was enough for me to know the Church is true. There was such a special sweetness and sincerity about him that you couldn't convince me otherwise. He was and is a true prophet of God.
This poem was on my friend Stacie's blog and I wanted to share it as well.
Prophetic Passing
I imagine he's running to Marjorie now,
Yes, running, not waving his cane.
I see him embracing his father and mother
While they keep repeating his name.
I see him now meeting his forebears,
Brother Brigham and Joseph are there.
Sweet reunion of prophets, united by service
That only such noble men share.
I see him embraced by the Savior
While Father says, "Good and well done.
So faithful in stalwart endurance, I welcome
My noble, most excellent son."
I then hear the ripples of laughter
As he says the reception's just fine,
But he hopes that he'll get an assignment or two
Since there's no need to waste any time.
I can hear his clear voice in the stillness
At the close of this sweet Sabbath day,
Have faith and move forward — there's work to be done.
President Hinckley would want it that way.

I agree with you when you said that looking at him was enough to know that the Church is true. I will always remember when he came to do a devotional my freshman year, and when he walked in, how every person in the room stood and felt the spirit that comes with his presence.
Amen to everything you said. I LOVE that poem!
I'll never forget the first time I saw him in person at a BYU devotional. When everyone rose and sang "We Thank Thee oh God for a Prophet," I bawled because I knew without a doubt he was a prophet and I was ever so thankful to God. I love that poem too!
I too watched the entire funeral yesterday. The tears were flowing at the last part of Monson's talk, I think they were more tears of JOY! President Hinkley is such a wonderful person, I will never forget him. Thanks Rachel for sharing your thoughts! I love the picture!!
