Here are a few highlights of some of the fun things that I did remember this week.
Have you seen the 80's movie "Mannequin"? It's only the best movie ever! hehe The movie is about a guy and this mannequin that only comes to life when he's around and nobody else. He gets so frustrated that nobody believes him and that nobody ever gets to see this person be animated. Well, I was thinking the other night after Reese sat on Santa's lap, "Oh my gosh, that's my little Reese." She can be so shy as soon as we step out the door. It's fun for me to be able to show the silly, fun side of her that we see at home on this blog though.
Thursday afternoon Tom's work had an afternoon reserved at the Children's Museum. We were positive that she would scream her little head off as soon as we put her on Santa's lap. Instead, she sat there and wouldn't look at anybody. Not Santa, not Tom, not me. Nobody! She looked straight forward totally expressionless. We got a big kick out it. Here's some footage of our little mannequin.
A few other activities at the Children's Museum.
Trying to remember what else was on her shopping list.
First art project. She's a natural! And now brace yourself for "Nerdfest 2007!"
Tom and about 10 other guys got together to play Risk on Friday night. I think they're going to make this a monthly thing.
Kassiah, Hollie, and I just put the kids all to bed upstairs then headed out for a girl's night (of course I mean the kids were in the same house as the guys). We did a little shopping then saw "August Rush." It was so cute when I'd call Tom to see how things were going. His responses were super abrupt and he was always in the biggest rush to get off the phone. I've found that Risk is a very intense game.
We finally got snow this weekend. This is pretty late for our first real snow fall.
All cozy and ready to run errands.
Last night was Tom's work party. It's typically a pretty fancy shindig with good food.
This year, not so much. There were just little appetizers and none of our friends were there. So instead of staying to make awkward conversation with people we really didn't know we took off after only 20 minutes and went out to dinner by ourselves. It ended up being the perfect date night.
All in all, it was a busy week, but pretty fun! But here's to a much more mellow week!

aahhh! crazy weeks. gotta love them. it makes the days go by so quickly and makes you grateful for non-crazy weeks!!
i think the last christmas party we were at 2 years ago with PwC was exactly like that one. No one was there - i'm not sure where you guys were that night. We left about 20 minutes after it started as well. Too bad we couldn't be entertained by that sweet comedian who was there 3 years ago!!
I loved Reese with Santa Claus---that's so hilarious! I especially loved your description of it. Thats better than Kelsey who's almost 4 and still won't sit on his lap. I had to sit on his lap with her at our ward Christmas party this weekend.
You guys looked so fancy and you looked beautiful, Rach, for the party. What a bummer that it was lame but better that you got a night out alone.
Have a good, mellow week. Isn't December just so crazy?
Sounds like a fun week!
Oh, I forgot to say, your hair looks really curly and cute in that work party picture.
Wow, you did have a busy week. Glad you had a good time with everything though. I had to laugh about the "Risk" game. That is totally something that Jason would love if we lived nearby (another reason to move to Colorado, right?) And I agree with everyone else, you looked gorgeous all dressed up and Tom didn't look half bad himself. Sorry the work party bombed, but at least you got a date night out of it.
I love the movie 'Mannequin'! My sister and I have watched it tons of times. Reese was so cute sitting on Santa's lap. She kind of reminds me of Jude. He gets very serious, too. Bummer about the PWC party. I always had such high expectations and I was usually always a little dissapointed. I was glad to hear that you guys left, though, and made the most of your evening. I think Jake would've made us stay and talk to everyone. :)
At least it was a week full of fun things - not like scrubbing toilets or having dental work done or something. Reese is so cute in the snow. Will's work party stunk this year too. Actually, that's not true. It was nice. But they served chicken. I mean come on, what is fancy about chicken? I'm still bitter about it if you can't tell.
Sounds crazy, but fun! I love Reese's pink vest; I've been wanting to buy one like that!
fun! I'm forgetting everything this week too...but I am a huge planner girl. I love writing things down. I'm a little obsessive about it. Like before we got married and I made a list of everything we had to do, ranked according to importance, and how stressed I was about it. I'm pretty sure Ryan married me despite the list. Here's to a less crazy week!
She is the cutest little snow bunny. Are you liking the snow? It has been cold here in vegas. I can't imagine it there.
You'll have to ask Taylor about playing risk with the Yoakum boys. Next time your guys are in town the guys will have to get together for a game.
Rachel,
This is Katiebug, your former honorary roommate who lived in Sparks II for like, I dunno, half a semester? I found your blog through Marisa's and have been lurking a bit, but I had to comment on Mannequin - I LOVE that movie!! When I was little I tape-recorded all the songs on it (straight from the TV)...weird, because the songs are very cheesy & totally 80s :)
Sorry, I'm a little slow responding back to people this week. It's been crazy again. Just yesterday I watched 4 extra kids. Everybody kept calling me last minute. It got to a point that it was just comical.
Katiebug! I miss you! I saw your name on Marisa's and tried to click on it, but it was private. You'll have to send me an invitation unless you're trying to keep me away! I still have our picture of us all decked out for the N'Sync concert in Vegas. rachelbjorkman@hotmail.com
And for you old PwC-ers. We missed you this year at the party. We had nobody to tag along with. We're not shy people but we just WERE NOT in the mood for small talk.
Marisa, I would so love to see a picture of you sitting on Santa's lap with Kelsey. Kelsey and Reese remind me of each other in the way that they can be quite shy at first, but super fun and crazy at home or once they warm up to you.
Yes Dadra, you should move to Colorado! Tell Jason that there are Risk parties every weekend. That's a lie, but if it gets him to move here then hey!
Cynthia, you're right, the week was mostly filled with fun things. I just didn't elaborate on my church calling stuff. I was put over scouts and that has been the biggest headache so far! I so don't know what I'm doing yet. Yeah, chicken definitely isn't the fanciest of foods for a big companies work party. Are you still bitter? :)
Andrea, I pretty much want all of Reese's clothes in my size. Although I'm sure they wouldn't look as cute on me. Why are things so cute when they're little? I once had a guy say, "If there was a miniature dumpster girls would think it was cute."
Kristie, I HATE the snow. You think I'd be used to it by now, but I'm not. And I can only imagine the Risk parties. Especially with Taylor being there. But yes, next time Tom comes with me to Vegas they will definitely all have to play!
I love reading your blog! You are so funny, Rachel! I loved the video of Reese with Santa, I wonder what she was thinkin? The picture of her with the shopping cart is too cute!
