I was out and about running errands yesterday and one of my stops was Wal-Mart. I had some returns (like always) so on the way in the little greeter lady put some tags on my stuff then said "Have a nice day Miss." Miss? Oh, so sweet! But it didn't stop there. One of the things on my list of things to get was Krazy Glue. So as I was checking out, the Krazy Glue beeped a weird beep over the scanner and the check out lady paused, looked at me and said, "Are you over 18?" I gasped and exclaimed, "Thank you for asking!" I wanted to hug her. She still waited there for me to respond yes or no. Even better! I'm only 27 so why do I care so much? Well, I used to be mistaken for younger until I hit about 25. Then people started calling me "ma'am" and thinking I was at least my real age which was about the same time my zits were replaced with dark splotches (I'm forever cursed with bad skin). I'm sure she didn't really think I was under 18 and that she was just doing her job, but man that made my day! Kind of funny that they have to ask about Krazy Glue huh? Little does she know...MUHAHAHA!!!

That's hilarious! Is krazy glue some crazy ingredient for your meth lab you've got brewing in your backyard?!? I've never heard of that before. So funny!
I remember the first time I heard "ma'am". That was a horrible point in my life.
I had an experience going through the drive-thru at McDonalds when I only had Jordan & Noah. I didn't have a minivan yet, just the Camry. A young guy was waiting on me and flirting with me (ahhh the days of being flirted with). He heard Noah scream in the backseat, leaned out his window to see what the noise was in the back of my car and commented, "You have kids? You don't look old enough to have kids." He gave me a look like he knew what he was doing, but I ate it up anyways. He made my day, and obviously I have never forgotten that simple "random act of kindness".
Sometimes I wonder if guys have the same reaction when they first hear "Sir".
You can tell we're not southerners. I feel the same way about being called ma'am. But there's a couple in our ward with a three year old who's been taught to always say "yes, ma'am" and "yes, sir" and "thank you, ma'am" and "thank you, sir". That's good southern manners and it's adorable coming out of a three year old, but it still sounds odd out here in Utah.
that's great. I have been asked if my mother in law is my sister...I'm not sure if that's good or bad :)
i don't even think people thought i was 18 when i was 18! people have always said i had an older face. yeah, just what you want to hear at 16!! i would love it if someone said i looked 18!!
