First off, thanks for voting on my little look-alike poll. It was fun to see a little variety and not 100% "tom with pig-tails" like I was expecting. And especially thank you to the 3 of you who voted for "mini-Rachel" and "mostly Rachel." It made me smile and gave me a good chuckle at the very least.
Next, I'd like to give a shout out to my brother-in-law Taylor for giving me the hot tip of some super amazing last minute cheap flights to Vegas. When I say cheap, I'm talking $21 to get there and $59 to get back. And when I say last minute I mean only a week before Thanksgiving. Crazy I tell you. Being from a popular travelling destination certainly has it's perks!

Getting ready to go. Every time we go out of town Reese climbs in and out of the suitcases while we're packing. Hmmm...she won't be flying for free anymore in 10 months. Maybe she's on to something.
"Helping" in the kitchen. I helped, but let's be honest, cooking just isn't my thing. Chef Boy-R-Tom (a popular nickname given to him by many) tore it up in the kitchen along side my mom though.
A very natural shot of the guys doing the dishes during meal preparation time---an even more novel idea than the 10 minute soak after dinner.
Dadoo Richard took the two littlest grandkids out for a swing on the hammock before dinner. He really has a soft spot for the grandkids.
Mealtime
My mom is an amazing cook! It was delicious! Unfortunately Reese and I didn't have much of an appetite though. The next day we found out it was because we had the beginning of the flu bug. (It looks like Audrey might have had it too. :) )
What Reese and I didn't eat, Tom made up for with 4 plates of food. He and my brothers kept egging each other on to eat more. And now for the part of Thanksgiving I hate most...the football!!!
While they watched sports I went outside with the kiddies and pushed them around in the wagon. Reese loves to go really fast and squeal "weeee."I didn't get any more pictures of the weekend because I was pretty much sick the rest of the time. The morning before the flu kicked in I did have my first ever "Black Friday" shopping experience with my mom and Nora. If you have some super expensive electronic in mind the lines and crowds are probably worth it. Other than that, I'm not sure I would do it again.
All in all we had a great time. And hey, I even lost a little weight in the end. And to my family, you are very welcome for the jump start to a weight loss program. I will be available for all major holidays for those interested. Ha! No, I really am sorry to everybody I got sick!
Oh, and one last thing, this last Sunday I was sustained to be the 2nd counselor in the Primary Presidency in my ward. Call me crazy, but I am actually really excited! People were offering us their condolences after sacrament meeting and I think that's ridiculous! I LOVE little kids and I am so excited to serve them. I have always loved listening to the sweet little things kids say regarding the gospel. I think it will only strengthen my testimony to be with them and get back to the basics of why I know this gospel is true!

Yay for cheap flights. If you've got to live away from family, that's the way to do it. That's crummy that you got the flu. I hope you're feeling better now. Is that why you haven't blogged for the last few days? And congrats on the Primary calling. Truthfully, I think that's a perfect calling for you. Those kids will love cool Sister Bjorkman (if only they can say "Bjorkman"). What does the 2nd counselor do specifically?
I loved hearing and seeing your fun Thanksgiving! That seriously is so cool to live in a place where you can get good deals. I'm jealous! Doesn't it stink when you're the one bringing the sickness--especially when you have no idea that you're getting sick? I always feel bad about that--but what can you do? It's not like you plan on ever getting sick. At least you lost weight... I wish I could say the same about our Thanksgiving.
congrats on the primary presidency. You will seriously be so amazing at that! You're so cute.
Sounds like a really great Thanksgiving Rachel! I think it's one of my favorite holidays with all the family and food. Sorry you got sick, but hopefully it has passed by now. And congrats on the calling. I think Primary is so fun!!
Congrats on the new calling! You will be awesome. Glad you guys had a nice Thanksgiving. Would you believe that I have never seen your folks' house since they remodeled? Oh, except maybe at your wedding. Was it done then? Anyway, it looks nice. Hope you're feeling better.
Are you sure it wasn't morning sickness? :) How did you get the cheap deals? My Thanksgiving flight was definitely a lot a lot more expensive!
Oh yeah, and primary would be awesome! I think when I "graduate" from the singles ward in a couple years (ah, scary), I will ask for a primary calling. :)
Wow what a deal on the flights. Taylor is "THE MAN". We love that guy. That is to bad you guys got the flu. I think there are a few bugs flying around. Katelyn was home sick today.
That is great about your calling. Jeff's wife Nichole just got called into the primary presidency also.
My sister and I also went shopping on Friday. It was CRAZY!!!
That last comment was form the Yoakum's. Robin Jr. started a blog and I didn't sign out of hers. :)
Great minds think alike! I think it's hilarious that we'd pick the same thing and day to change our templates. I'm glad they're twinners.
Emily, that's so funny that you have a red-headed blue-eyed child. I never thought I'd have a blond child. I guess you just never know when you add your husbands genes to it all. I need to see pictures of your little family! That's why you need a blog! It definitely can be time consuming because it's so addictive, but it's so much fun! And that was so fun to see Travis. I think it had been like 10 years or something since I'd seen him. I can't believe he has 4 kids. Also, I'm so glad that you are a fellow bachelor watcher.
Hooty, yep I wasn't quite in the blogging mood when I first got back. My best blogging hours are when Reese is in bed and by that time I had NO energy! The counselors in the primary presidency aren't assigned certain things like a relief society presidency is. We all decided together what we'd be over. I'm over scouts and nursery and sunbeams and a few other things like that.
Cynthia, my parents remodelled in 98'/99' so it was done for my wedding reception, but the whole kitchen area was blocked off. I hadn't seen your parent's remodelled house either until I saw you a couple months ago either. Crazy.
Marissa, I am positive it wasn't morning sickness. :) I love that you "graduate" from the singles ward. Is there a ceremony and everything? ;)
Kristie, it did take me a second to know who the comment was from, but I figured it out as soon as I saw the names Jeff & Nichole. That's so cute that your daughter started a blog.
Ha ha, ceremonies only take place if you get married, not if you graduate. I like the new blog look. I can't figure out how to make mine look good. But yours is cute.
Rach, Primary will be so much fun. I was in the Primary Presidency and then the Primary President for awhile and it was one of my favorite callings. And, you will be great with the children. Maybe it will make you want to start having more cute Reese's tagging along soon (that was probably their plan since Reese is so adorable).
what incredible prices on tickets! i'm so jealous. we never get deals like that on flights!! glad you got to go home and enjoy the thanksgiving holiday with family. looks like a great time!!
I need to find some cheap plane tickets to Vegas...My husband is deploying over Christmas and the baby and are gonna be all alone! How's life...long time no chat
