Reese's Birthday!

The party invitation

First time eating pizza! Yummy!

The decorations

Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Cake

The Myers. We wanted to invite all our friends, but knowing that we couldn't, we invited only Reese's closest little buddies and their families.

These 3 little ones were born within a week of each other with Reese being the youngest. It was crazy to have 3 of us all in the same ward have our first babies within 1 week...and we don't even live in Utah!

All of Reese's friends that came (minus Gunnison who was upstairs taking a nap).

Reese & Penny. Penny is Reese's every other Monday babysitter. She is so good with her!

One of her favorite presents. It's so cute! You squeeze the ear and its head goes up and down while it neighs and wiggles it's tail from side to side. We bought it weeks ago and hid it in our spare bedroom, but if we ever accidentally left the door open Reese would head directly in there and try to climb up on it. At least we knew she would like it.

She was so stinkin' cute with her cake. She was pretty dainty with it at first only sticking one finger in at a time then licking it off, but she got a little more into it as time went on. My favorite part was that she loved the hat. Tom and I thought she'd want it off after about 5 seconds, but she loved it and it would get mad when I would try and take it off.

For some reason we didn't get any video of her eating her cake with my camera, but we did get footage with a regular video camera, but I don't know how to upload it. My friend Hollie (the awesome photographer) also took tons of pictures that I can't wait to see. I'll post some of those when I get them.

Eating more cake in her birthday suit.

"Hmmm...I think I'll have the 'little bit from mommy's plate and little bit from daddy's plate' special." We went out to Chili's for her birthday dinner. Okay, so really it was just an excuse for Tom and I to eat out.

She is the most special blessing in mine and Tom's lives, and it was so sweet to have an entire day devoted completely to her. We love her to death!

She looks so adorable in her birthday hat! I love that she didn't want you to take it off. I love that little rocking horse. I can't wait to meet her next week...oh, and of course, to see YOU (and the rest of the clan)!!!!

That cake looked awesome! What a fun first birthday! I'm pretty sure Reese will look back at all these pictures and all of the things you write about her and think, wow, my mom really thinks I'm something special!

She looked so adorable!! I can't believe she is 1 already. I'm sure you are both thinking the same thing. Time sure does fly with these little ones, but it really seems like you are enjoying each moment and milestone. Happy first birthday Reese!!

That is so funny, "and we don't even live in utah" cause it's totally true that happens a lot here. So fun! I think part of the fun of having kids is that as adults we still get to participate in fun events like this. Happy Birthday Reese!

Marissa, I know we are absolutely obsessed with Reese! I think that's just part of the experience with your first child. I pretty much take pictures of her and laugh at the things she does all day long. It's so dang fun to be her mom! My dad kind of laughs at Tom and me and tells us that Reese sure gets lots of attention. I always ask my dad, "What are we supposed to do? Ignore her a little more so we can make sure it's a little more even with our future kids?" It's hard not to be obsessive! :)

Steve, we got the rocking horse at Costco. Reese loves it! Jocelyn would probably like it in a few months here too. Not too expensive either. I think it was about $35. Our entire party should have been sponsored by Costco. Everything was from there! Well, you'd be proud...some things were from Target too!

What a cutie! I wish I could have been there, especially for the cake! :) Was there PB in the cake, too?

Rachel B. said...

Nope, no PB in the cake. I thought about it, but since you're not supposed to give your kids nuts until they're 1 I decided that I didn't want to find out if she had an allergic reaction during her birthday party. :)

Rachel, she looks so cute. And taking her first steps, that's big. How exciting! From now on they just learn more and more everyday and when she starts to really talk and respond by doing almost everything you tell her to in a couple of months you are going to pay even more attention to her. Kids are so much fun; much better than pets!

Did you make that cake? If so, I'm totally impressed! If not, I'm equally impressed you found a cake like that!

Thanks Ging! I made it. I kind of had to rush to frost it about 5 minutes before people got to my house for her party so it turned out a little sloppier than I was hoping (when you zoom in on it), but I was still pretty happy with how it turned out. I kind of go crazy with the whole "Reese's" thing. I just can't help myself!
