Steamboat Springs

We spent the week of the 4th of July in Steamboat Springs, CO which is about 3 hours away from us. My parents and two of my brothers and their families came out for it. Steamboat is absolutely gorgeous! I describe it to people as a huge Vail. I personally think it's prettier than Vail. I tried to narrow down the pictures, but even with doing that, there are just so many I want to show.
Clara & "Cheese." When Clara says Reese's name it sounds like she is saying "cheese." So that was her nickname for the trip. Clara gave Reese so many hugs and would also try and pick her up to carry her to wherever the action was. She didn't want Cheese to be left out.

One day we rode the gondola up the mountain so we could get a look of the city. So beautiful! Take notice of the handsome 15 lbs. lighter (and counting) cutie-batooty next to me. (Actually, in this picture he's only about 7 lbs. lighter, but now he's 15.)

Reese with her beads from the 4th of July parade.

We also went to the Steamboat rodeo on the 4th.

Tom thinks because I'm a city girl that I don't enjoy things like rodeos. Little does he know that my home town of Vegas is where the National Finals Rodeos take place. I was, however, sure to get out of there before the fireworks (#3) started.

We did a lot of tubing down the Yampa River which was probably my favorite activity.

One day the water was especially cold as you can tell from the look on Tom and Adam's faces.

We were also able to do a lot of fishing. We had a hard time catching any fish with actual worms or lures. We found "yum-yums", as David is modelling, and goldfish crackers to be the best bate.

Here are the two fish we caught. Tom showed the kids how to gut and clean the fish so we could eat them. The future Dr. Bradley was especially fascinated.

My mom fishing at a beautiful lake in the area.

Tom was in heaven!

Momoo Sherie with her two youngest grandbabies.

Family photo! Not necessarily the best shot of us, but the background is what I love!

This is what we saw as we were heading back to Denver. I wish we could have stayed longer to see all the balloons actually up in the air.

We had such a fun time and I would highly recommend Steamboat as a vacation spot to anybody.

good update, Rach! That look so incredibly beautiful. I loved the picture of you in the tubes--would've loved to see how you got in and out of that...

What a fun trip! I didn't realize you were so close to steamboat. We went there one summer before Bryan's mission and it was one of my favorite family vacations. We got way sunburned though. I can't get over how cute your girlie is. Has Hollywood called yet? What are they waiting for??

I've been waiting for the promised Steamboat Springs post. You're getting to be so outdoorsy Rachel - camping, rodeos, fishing. I never knew this side of you.

That looks really fun! Hey is Tom still working for one of the big 4 accounting firms? If so which one....and how is it from your perspective??

Yes, Tom still works for PwC. Umm...I have mixed feelings about whether I like it or not. My gut instinct would be to say no, but let me explain. I think it is such a great job as far as experience and how it looks on a resume. Also, most of these companies have super good benefits and vacation! It cost us $25 total to have Reese and he's had about 6 weeks of paid time off (that's including paternity leave). The down side to it all would definitely be the hours and the pay. Not that the pay is necessarily bad, but for how much time he puts into it it is. Every busy season I get mad and want him to quit. It was super lonely before Reese and now it's frustrating to not have him home to help and see Reese. Is Russ wanting to work for one?
