Reese's Baptism

So I'm sort of forgetting how to blog thanks to instagram. I sometimes think of instagram as my enemy actually. It sure has made record keeping easy, but I'm trying to remember that while easy and simple are great for many things, details are also so very important. Especially when it comes to the details of my darling girl's baptism...back in October.

Reese was so excited and sweet about it all that it makes me tear up just thinking about the whole thing. It's just really special to experience this through your child. The day before, she ended up with some huge gouges on her cheeks courtesy of a brawl with her little brother. (You can only see them faintly in these pictures, but it was actually pretty bad and she still has a slight scar in one spot now 3 months later.) I came home from grocery shopping later that night after she had gone to bed to a note on my pillow saying that she "had water in [her] eyes about it" and "what [was she] going to do if it [wasn't] gone the next day for [her] baptism?" This broke my heart and I wrote her back saying that if she'd like, we could go out and get some special make-up to cover it. But I also let her know that even though it was a bummer, that even with cuts on her face, she was still beautiful and that nobody at her baptism would even care because they were going to be there because of how much they loved her! I was fully expecting to go out and buy make-up the next morning, but she woke up deciding that she didn't care anymore. I was so proud of her confidence. She totally owned it and looked completely beautiful!

Her Primary teacher, Sister Bergman, gave the talk on baptism. Cutest primary teacher in all the world, by the way! She was then baptized by her dad. :) I loved being in the bathroom with her after to help her get changed into her dress and to see the excitement and sweetness on her face.

My dad then gave a great talk on the Holy Ghost which included the sweet book below and her own cozy new blanket that she sleeps with every night. She was then given the gift of the Holy Ghost and confirmed a member of our church through a blessing by Tom.

We were so happy Momoo & Dadoo were able to make it out!

How I love this darling, newly baptized girl of mine!!

What a sweet girl!! Baptism day ranks pretty high up there on my favorite mom moments. And I hear you with blogging - I love instagram but I also love recording the "whole" story, and talking peoples ears off which is basically what my blog is for. :)
