When Everett was first born, I definitely saw Tom in him, but I also saw a lot of my brother Michael. But the older he gets, there is no denying that he is Tom's mini-me.

It used to be when I would be talking with someone that 5-10 minutes into the conversation they would casually mention that they thought Everett looked like Tom. But now, people don't even say hi anymore. I open the door and hear, "Holy cow, he looks like Tom!" He does. It's funny. I even had a reverse moment once where I looked at Tom across the room and thought "Whoa, it's Everett!" That was weird. And so was getting used to feeling like I'm carrying a small version of my husband around on my hip all day. Tom gave him the nickname, "E. Tom" early on, and really it could not be more fitting.
That being said though, there are still times (like when I look at these pictures) that I totally see me. I've only had maybe 3 people back me up on this, but I remain strong in my opinion as he is my only kid I've ever caught any glimpse of that with. Maybe it's the food on his face.

Anyway, 6/7 months is the age I just LOVE! It's pretty much when all the awesomeness starts and when I start thinking, "yeah, I could do this again!" It's just during those crazy, sleepless, boob hurting, newborn nights that I tell Tom that we're done.
He started sitting up right around 6 months. He's so interactive and silly and we all just can't get enough of him.

He's been up on all fours for about a month now making crawling attempts. He can inch forward a bit on his belly when he really wants something and otherwise just rolls to whatever he wants.

He now takes a pacifier. It took him learning to take a bottle to figure it out. I was kind of torn about this, but in the end have decided that I like it...for now anyway.

He's not a fan of solids. Crazy kid! For an entire month he completely pursed his lips and would turn away. Just when I thought we were going to have to start IVs he discovered Subway. Tom gave me a piece of his Meatball Marinara sandwich one day and Everett started diving in for it like a crazy person. I put a bit of marinara sauce on his lip and he was in love. Seriously, from that point on he decided that food wasn't so bad. I've been making all his baby food with a Beaba Babycook I got off craigslist. It steams, purees, and even defrosts the food if you want. It's pretty awesome and saves a bum load of money.

He still is not the world's best sleeper. He's not awful, but he's definitely not one of those magical sleeping babies that everybody seems to have. To back-track a bit, shortly after he was 4 months we decided to stop letting him cry it out. It just wasn't working how we had hoped. We happened to see a different doctor during his 4 month visit and his opinion was that although Everett was good weight-wise, he felt that babies weren't developmentally ready at that age. That doctor's kind of a softy, but so am I. So we went back to swaddling and bouncing. He slept fabulously, but my knees were killing me and I felt like I was going to go insane. So right before 6 months we tried unswaddling and crying it out again. He's now great at putting himself to sleep which is so so wonderful! And while we've had some good 11-12 hour stretches, it's definitely not the norm. Anyway, that was a lot of info. To sum it up, we're still working on it.
Despite his stubborn ways with sleep and food, he really is such an incredibly happy kid. He is as sweet and easy going as they come. I don't think I even realized it until people started asking if he was always this chill. Yep. Pretty much. Tom often calls him "the forgotten child" because he will sometimes get left sitting in a room all by himself and still doesn't make a peep.

There you have it! A good healthy 3-months-worth dose of our super lovable E. Tom!

Such a cutie pie! His personality really comes through in the pictures too. Yes, he is a lil' mini Tom, but I can see the Koch side in him as well. I'm glad to hear that he has been sleeping better lately.
Love his lil' laugh too:).
What a cute post! But then you had a cute subject! He looks like he is really starting to show his personality.
It's funny that he looks so much like Tom now because I don't think he looks much like Tom did when he was a baby. Interesting.
Thanks for posting!
Oh, he's handsome. We also call Sammie our forgotten child for the same reason. I sort of live in fear that I'm going to forget her at some point because she just hangs out and doesn't cry unless she's pretty bored. He sounds like such a fun baby and yay you for starting to feel like you could maybe have another. I pray I never feel like that again, I'm pretty sure four is my limit.
Joshua was sitting here shaking his head back and forth right along with Everett. I think my boys wish Noelle could play with them like that, they try to tickle her already. He's a cutie. A
Love the video. So fun to see the little man's personality. I'm going to have to ask you more about this baby food maker and what your current food strategy is. That's just around the corner for me!
Pure cuteness!! And I can see both you and Tom in him. I sure wish we lived closer so we could get all of our kiddos together!
Super funny you mention that you open the door and people proclaim "he looks like tom!" people do that to me ALL the time with Tyce. We're walking down the hall at church and I hear, "MINI TARL!" uhm ok hi to you too. :) haha. Cute cute boy you got there Rach!
Oh how I miss that boy. He's so stinkin' cute! I know I may never get you back here, so I guess I'll have to try working on Taylor to get us up there.
BTW, I STILL think he looks a lot like you. Especially when he smiles a big smile.
The other night Steve and I were talking about how we think E. Tom is the greatest nick name ever. And you are one of my favorite bloggers..the visual of you carrying Tom around on your hip cracked me up. Can't wait for Tom's mini me to be buddies with Steve's mini me.
He's seriously so cute! Glad he's a happy baby!!
