But definitely not the greatest.
I spent about 4 hours last night at the hospital contracting every 4 minutes. After not enough progression, we headed home (I was stuck at an almost 4). I was in tears when we decided to leave because they were pretty darn painful, and I couldn't imagine them calming down. They did. A little. The sleep I got was very rough even with the help of an Ambien. Today they've been all over the place, but mostly averaging 10-15 minutes apart. They still hurt so much.
The thing that's been throwing the worst kink into this whole thing is that Claire has chicken pox. (Yes, she has been vaccinated.) I did NOT want to leave her last night. She's just been so miserable and I just really wanted to take care of her. Before we left for the hospital I was in total denial that anything could be starting even though it had been about 3 hours with contractions 5-7 minutes apart. Tom had to talk me into going in again (how it was with Claire's delivery). It was tricky figuring out what do with the girls with the new chicken pox element, but it worked out in the end thanks to a great neighbor.
Today has not been a whole lot of fun, but a bit of relief is on the way. My mom is on a plane and should be here in less than 2 hours! Just like Claire, sometimes I just want my mommy. We've had lots of offers to help out, but you just feel bad calling people in the middle of the night you know? And like I said, with chicken pox, we can't exactly dump our kids off on anybody. It will be nice to have my mom here. Who knows what's going to happen. The nurse said that I could very well still not have the baby until my due date, but that her hunch is that I'll be back this weekend. Man, it's gonna be a long weekend!
How's that for a complaining post right after my last one?!

I'm glad your mom is on her way. I would have a hard time leaving my kids with anyone other than my mom even if i didn't have a kid with chicken pox, so I know what you mean. I'll be thinking about you, Rachel! I hope we get to see (at least on the internet) this little boy soon!
Boo!! Boo for miserable contractions and boo for miserable sleep and boo for your poor Claire who I'm sure is miserable too. :( But YAY that your mom is on her way!! I totally hear you on sometimes just needing your mommy. That's awesome that she can come. I definitely hope your little guy is a May baby. :) Keep us posted!
Ohhhh, definitely sounds like a rough night! Poor Claire. I had chicken pox when I was 9 and I remember having a couple miserable days but then I was just itchy, so hopefully the truly miserable part passes quickly. And baby boy might decide to make his entrance pretty quickly here too!
I am really excited for you this weekend! I hope this is your weekend to have your baby :) Keep us posted!!!
It did show up! Go fig.
I'm sending prayers your way. Bummer for poor little Claire...she'll be okay. I had chicken pox when I was 6 (mild) and then again at 23(awful). Believe me - better young than later on....
You'll get to see your little guy pretty soon!
I bet you are so relieved your mom is there now! Isn't it funny that no matter how old we get sometimes we just need our mom? I'm hoping to see an update on here VERY soon that you had your little guy! And I hope labor goes quickly and that you aren't contracting endlessly before labor starts.
Aaahh! I'm so sorry! Contractions are so painful, and to have Claire sick too. Hang in there, I hope you have your little boy soon :)
Wow. You have good reason for complaint there. What a way to make this transition! I too am feeling very grateful for your mom. What a life saver. I hope you've already had the baby by now (or are doing so at this moment) and that you will soon be feeling a million-gazillion times better.
Rachel I am so sorry to hear about your rough night. I'll be thinking about you and praying for good labor vibes for you and a speedy recovery for little Claire...best of luck chicka! I hope your next post has a pictue of a cute baby boy in it!
Chicken Pox??? That's crazy! Nice timing, too. Congrats on little Everett. He is a handsome fellow. :)!
