Claire's a feisty little one, that's for sure. A few days ago Claire said something about the "potty". I asked her if she wanted to go and she enthusiastically shook her head yes. I ran out to the garage and grabbed the princess potty and had her sit on it to see what would happen. Nothing. Which really wasn't a surprise. But then she just wanted to play with it. I really didn't want her to think of it as a toy so I put it back in the garage. That of course caused a huge meltdown. So the next day when we were coming in from the garage she spotted the potty. I was already inside, but as Reese held the door open for her, Claire picked up the potty and carried it in. I let her sit on it again, but quickly realized she was probably just wanting to play again. I started to take it away which of course led to her getting mad at me, so I just said, "Fine, whatever!" and left the room. As I turned the corner, I immediately heard the princess song. I ran back in and saw that she had peed in the potty! I couldn't stop laughing and got really excited for her. I in no way think she's ready to potty train though. I don't think she really got it. Maybe she did. So really it's probably actually me who is not ready to potty train. I know some of you moms do it at this age, but isn't it so much harder? The method I did with Reese does recommend that you start training at 22 months, and Claire is exactly 22 months, but I just don't think I have it in me to do it right now. It was a funny experience at the very least.
Do you like the shirt I made for Claire? I know, my photoshop skilz are UH-mazing! And for some reason after I added it, her head suddenly looked HUGE!

She's stylin'! Ha, I hear potty training is oh so fun! I don't want to think about it...
Haven't you heard? Fuzzy shirt are all the rage this fall!
So cute! I'm in the same place with Jack right now. He sees the potty and wants to sit on it so I let him. Sometimes he goes - sometimes he doesn't. I'm just glad he's not afraid of it. At this rate - our kiddos will figure it out on their own:-)
Love the shirt. I say, go with it. (the potty training, not photoshopping ;)) I think my 2nd child was MUCH easier to train because they have the older example. Good luck to you!
That shirt is awesome! Yay that she's interested in the potty, sometimes that's half the battle.
I was totally going to comment about how much I loved the photoshopped shirt. I think if she keep doing this, go for it! No diapers would be wonderful!
Remember the 2nd child is the determined one. She'll probably do it herself without much effort on your part.
Good job Claire-"Bare"!!!
Ruthie is the same way. She's been interested in the potty for 4 or 5 months now and had an early success just like Claire. But I am not ready to potty train either! She will sometimes insist on having a turn after Austin does (especially when we're away from home and in a cramped little stall). Luckily she is perfectly content to just go through the motions - she sits on the potty fully clothed for about 1 second, then has to "wipe" (drop a square of tp in the bowl) and flush and she's happy. I also leave the potty chair in my bathroom and encourage her to try before she gets in the bathtub. She actually pees about once every twenty tries.
I'm not going to try to potty train yet though. She's a stubborn little girl and I just know that it would turn in to a battle with me being frustrated that she won't stay on the potty long enough and mad that my reward system is failing. I'm just not interested in a long drawn out "as she's interested" potty training effort. I figure I'll wait till she's 2 1/2 (probably earlier than Austin) and then do the cold turkey to underwear thing. But not now. No way.
Your pink painting skillz are fab and your little subject looks very cute too!
