Pre-Pre-Preschool Graduation

I figured that now is my chance to squeeze in my pre-pre-preschool graduation post...right before pre-preschool starts tomorrow.

The girls at their graduation party back in May.Madison, Madi, Reese, Sadie (Avi moved mid-year)

The preschool co-op we did turned out to be a success in my book. It was pretty low key (Reese wasn't even 3 years old when we first started!), but I really think the girls grew a lot during the year. By the end of the year Reese knew all her letters and could write a fair amount of them. (I know, I know. Your children all knew their letters by the time they were 12 months. ;) )

Miriam (Sadie's mom) put together such a cute party to celebrate their last day and successful year.
It was complete with a dress-up relay race...

and a treacherous obstacle course!

under the bridge

over the lava

across the tightrope

We moms were a tad burnt out by the end of the year, but it was definitely worth it. This coming year, Madi's mom, Penny, is doing it all and we are all thrilled!

Reese misses the cut-off for school by 5 days so she still has two full years before kindergarten. So congratulations on graduating pre-pre-preschool, Reese! Only 2 more years to go until the real school deal! :)

Cute. My mom did Joy School with me, and I still remember learning about "gunny sack" "Joy Boy" and "Stone Soup". I loved that she was one of my preschool teachers.

Cute grad hats. We did a similar thing last year and this year we are putting them in the real thing (only one day a week) and supplementing with field trips, etc.

Bummer about Reese just missing the deadline, but I was also an October birthday and loved being oen of the oldest kids in my class.

I'm way impressed. She knew all her letters and could write some by the end of the year? Austin has recently started trying to write letters. That's been fun to watch. That's great that Penny is doing all the preschool stuff this year. Is it a paid gig or she doing it for free?

As for Reese missing the deadline - I've been talking to people a lot about this issue lately because Austin makes the deadline by a few weeks, so we have to decide if we should wait a year or not. Someone pointed out to me that for girls, being the youngest in their grade tends to catch up to them in high school because they are the last to drive and last to date - it encourages "late bloomers". I'd have to agree since that's the position I grew up in. So on the other hand I guess Reese will be more likely to be an "early bloomer" - dating up a storm and stressing her poor mother out ;).

So cute. Ashley misses the deadline by a week, too. These last few weeks have been interesting, to say the least. She is so ready to go to school and it is doing a doozy on her to have to wait... especially since her little neighbor friend was able to go this year and her birthday just so happened to be on the first day of school.

Okay, where do you get your ideas? Check out my blog to see why.

So cute that there are just girls in the pre-school. I think it would have made our/your "Joy School" more joyful without some of those boys climbing all over the place.

I love these pictures. I don't think if I had these pictures I would remember what they were doing during the races.
