It's the Most Wonderful Horrible Time of the Year

Last night, tears were shed.

Tears of Joy
AND
tears of Not So Much Joy.

You see, Football Season/Fantasy Football has begun....

Josh passing on the Fantasy Football "Green Jacket" to Tom. (Tom was last year's winner.)

I'm sure you can guess which tears were who's. Okay, so neither one of us actually cried (on the outside anyway), but I won't even pretend like I'm a good supportive wife when it comes to sports. I'm just not. Don't get me wrong, Tom's still very good about making time for our little family, but I can still sense a little bit of day dreaming distance as I can always see the wheels of Fantasy Football running through his mind. See you in a few months honey!

I actually can't tear...I was born with defective tear ducts...but if I could I would have shed tears of JOY for four reasons. 1st - Its Fantasy Football season...we finally got our BNO. 2nd - Tom accepted the winnings with grace and class. 3rd - the Broncos got spanked. and 4th - Josh Williams brought his wife's salsa...sweet mercy!

Haha, too funny. I'm joining a work FF league for the first time and was afraid Ben would not be on board once I became overly invested. However, he was surprisingly supportive /excited and now we're going to co-manage the team. Tell Tom that Team Bendrea is accepting draft day tips :), and good luck surviving the next few months!

LOL what are the odds?? I have no interest in fantasy football - my affection is solely for BYU football. And I do enjoy college football in general. But none of this NFL stuff. I'll pass on that. Does Tom always proof your posts? I don't think I'd be able to get much by my censor if I let him do that.

Nora will love to read this post as tonight is draft night, and I embark on the 2nd (this one's with Riewerts) of 3 leagues. She will share your pain. Just remember the post before this about how he is the best man you have ever known, hopefully you can keep that in mind as he drifts off into his FF coma for the next little while. And if he repeats as champion of his league, I will utter the same words, 'he is pretty much the best man I've ever known.' (tear) (bonus tear for rizzle)

I am so there. I dread this time of the year. We will be walking out the door to go to church and he jumps on the computer, looks at me like he is doing something of great importance and I just want to SCREAM! Good Luck.

Reason #89 I'm grateful my hubby doesnt care to watch sports on tv. It's rare I know. (Don't worry he has his 'football' it's called 'xbox' it's just not sports it's shoot 'em up games.)

Congrats to Tom and his winnings. Too bad it's not millions, perhaps he could buy your support. Haha.

Jimmy did this when we lived in Vegas for a few years and since I actually like watching football it didn't bug me too much. Sorry I'm the lame wife that ruins it for the ones that don't enjoy it!! :) GO BRONCOS!!! :P

Oh man, I feel for you. The thing I hate about fantasy football is that its not like they are just following one team, they have people from like every team so they feel the need to watch EVERY game! I always say, just pick a team. I will cheer for that team and watch their games, I just can't stand the all day all weekend games! Ahhh! Good luck (as far as I know Aaron isn't doing it this year so I'll keep my fingers crossed! ).

Rachel,

I feel your pain. Eric is in the playoff's for fantasy baseball and then this Friday is going to have a 2 hour draft pick with the guys in his league for fantasy football. Eric says that it is like the "funnest" game ever, but I just don't get it.

I feel torn on this. We don't do FF, but we do BYU and TN fball. There have been many Saturdays that have disappeared into 7 hours of game time on TV followed by another hour of ESPN to recapture all the highlights. I hate the loss of an entire Saturday, but I love watching it, so I can't complain too much. I'm glad Anthony is into sports cause I enjoy it too, I just wish he could handle watching only the 2nd half of the game and didn't need ESPN time too.

I feel your pain sista. (This is Nora) I just looked at your blog and yes, at this very moment Adam is at his second of three "draft parties." WHATEVER! All I know is at least during football season the guys actually have an excuse for their constant day dreaming but what about the rest of the year? Adam was so excited he had an extra bounce in his step all day today. I used to think it was cute but let me just tell you, TIMES HAVE CHANGED!

Great post Rachel. I had my fantasy draft on Thursday... but "forgot" to mention it to Adrienne until 5 minutes before. Somehow I had scheduled right when we were trying to pack for our weekend trip... oops! But it has been a good weekend so far - BYU 14, OU 13!!!
