I've officially become that lady that people stare at as my child lies in the middle of the aisle throwing a tantrum.
Food seems to rarely make it to her mouth...

This was discovered in my dishwasher shortly after I finished congratulating her for being such a big girl and finishing her lunch.
and when it does, it's usually because it's sugar.
Most of "nap" time is actually spent peering out her door waiting for the right moment to make her escape.
Not only is it difficult to keep clothes on her, but lately even her diapers!
I know I said that I like to keep things modest, but I think a little bum action is pretty cute every now and then. And what, didn't you learn your ABC's in the buff?
She can be quite sassy.
Many inanimate objects have taken their turn in time-out. She's even been as bold as to tell mommy to go to time-out and to "say you're sorry."
Don't go calling Super-Nanny on me just yet though, because being 2 can also mean being good at being sweet and tons and tons of fun!
She has the most infectious laugh.
It's this little cackle that just makes you smile.
She is always willing to help.
She keeps me up to date with the latest fashion trends.
Here she is showing us how care-bear stickers (very 80's) can be used as ginormous earrings (also very key to getting the 80's look just right).
She has such a tender heart.
She is always telling us how much she misses us...even if we're just in the next room. She'll run up and hug me and say, "I miss you mommy." The first thing she asks her daddy when he walks through the door is, "Are you okay, daddy?" And while watching Curious George she is always sure to shout "Be careful, George!" She'll even run up to the tv and kiss him better if he falls down.
She makes a great date.
She and I were able to go on a very special mommy-Reesey outing to see her very first movie in the theater ("Bolt"). She LOVED it. (Her daddy even made her her very own popcorn to sneak into the theater.)
She and I also went to her very first concert a few weeks ago--Disney Playhouse Live.
The days filled with these fun and sweet moments sure are easy to love. It's just the type of days where I'm literally counting down the minutes until Tom walks through the door that I need a little help with.....
--Pres. Thomas S. Monson
"The biggest mistake I made [as a parent] is the one that most of us make. … I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of [my three children] sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages six, four, and one. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less.”

Thanks for sharing the quote from President Monson. I think I'll post a copy of that in every room in my house. Reese is a doll!
She is so cute. I love that you take her on dates. Those little girls always get into trouble! I need your email so I can email you!
Cool post. That bum shot is timeless. I was just thinking the other night about how much I miss college. Then I thought a little more carefully and remembered how insanely stressed out I was all the time. That quote from President Monson reminded me of that. It seems like once the stress is gone and all we have left is the memory, we seem to remember the good stuff much more than the bad. And, like you said, there is pleanty of good stuff about being a mommy.
girls nights. how fun is that? reese is a cutie, that's for sure. we are having trouble keeping our diapers and clothes on around here. as cute as a bum shot is, cleaning up pee isn't as cute!!
Great post, Rach! The twos are such a fun, spunky period of time, aren't they? Reese is absolutely adorable!!! I cannot get over her beautiful & long hair!!! Thanks so much for sharing those amazing quotes! i'm going to get off this dang computer and go play with my kids (and turn off the t.v. :-)).
I love it! The two year old antics look almost exactly like what we encounter each day. What a cutie!
She is such a cutie pie!!! I love this post...the tantrums made me laugh...ugh :)
So sweet Rachel, love all the cute pics and 2 year olds make you laugh don't they? Reese is a cutie, I sang in the nursery this sunday and she was darling doing all the hand signs and moving about with the music, super cute.
I loved this post! I think I really needed to read it today. Very cute pictures and very sweet stories.
That was such a sweet post. A good reminder for me too! As a mom, I just can't believe how time flies. Riley will be five this week. Next time I blink she is going to be 16! So I better enjoy every moment. . .sassiness and all!
I love the picture of Reese laying on the floor of the store- I was laughing out loud looking at it!
You know, when she's standing there in the buff, I'm thinking, she has great hair... Ha ha, love all the pics and stories.
What a great post...just what I needed to hear. I know I am definitely guilty of not always living in the moment enough, so this was a good reminder to get down and play with my kiddos a bit more (rather than worry about all the other things that need to get done!)
Yes, I agree with Marissa that her hair is great. Also, I think my favorite pictures are the tantrums in the store. I have had my share of kids throwing tantrums in public. I've also thought that I'm the one that everyone else is staring up and down like I'm crazy. I'd much rather see something like that than the moms that keep their screaming kids in the cart while yelling at them so the entire store can hear. 2 year-olds are nuts! 3 year-olds are worse :)
Such a sweet post of all the cute little Reese-y things! So adorable!
Those pictures captured it all fabulously! I absolutely loved this post... It doesn't get much better than that. Reese is so sweet with Claire. What a good big sister she is!
THis post makes me smile. What a cute little girl. If we had stores I am sure Gavin would be doing the same thing. I love the cute little bum picture. Reese you are too cute.
I love that last quote... that was in a general conference talk. "Daughters of God, Elder M. Russell Ballard in May 2008. Elder Ballard did an excellent job reminding me of my "true purpose". I even choose that for my topic to speak on in sacrament meeting when we first moved here. I think I will go read it again. THANKS!
Thanks for making me cry! On a day like today when I had to put Zach down an hour early for a nap because I just couldn't deal, I needed to read this!
I love that you whipped out the camera for the tantrum! I had the meltdown of the century with Kaelyn in Target once, and it too ended on the floor. ;) ahh...being a mom. Liam copies his sister and when she puts her hands on her hips and tells mommy to go to time out for 4 minutes, he does too! ha ha! I guess I'm not alone.
So sweet Rachel - I love that you took the time to document the "little" things that go so easily unnoticed in our daily lives. Reese is adorable, and her sassiness reminds me of another little girl I know pretty well.
sweet and sassy...that's how i like 'em!
Aw, I love the videos! What a sweet big sister!! Of course, I love the shot of her sprawled out on the floor at the store - too funny!
Whenever Austin acts up I ask him, "Austin how old are you?" To which he replies, "I two." That reminder restores some of my patience. As for capturing the moment - how do you? I've tried before to "create a memory", but those don't really stick. It seems to me that you never really know which moments will stick with you.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY RACHEL!! Hope you have a great day!
P.S. It didn't sound that way at all! Riley is happy to be your b-day buddy:) Hope you have fun today!
happy b-day Rachel!
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY RACHEL DEAR!!!!
I think that learning your letters naked is really the only way to learn them. She's such a doll. With her face I have a hard time picturing her having those 'terrible two' moments (although I certainly believe that she has them)!
This is all too familiar. Looks like my post a while back...same quote and all. Ha! These little whipper-snappers keep us on our toes, don't they? I hope you had a happy b-day. Sorry we didn't get you on the phone, but your card is in the mail. We love you guys.
