Perfectly Healthy Baby...

Who Happens To Be....

A...
Girl!!!We are thrilled! Of course we would have been happy either way, but I was totally thinking boy. I even voted "boy" on my own poll. I never had any sort of mother's intuition type feelings, but I kept accidentally referring to the baby as a boy. I guess I can't swear by the Chinese Astrology Chart anymore either. ;)
I honestly didn't know what I wanted until today. But as soon as the ultrasound started I thought I saw some sort of boy part stuff, and I have to admit that I immediately felt a little bummed. I didn't know that it would make me feel that way. So at the end when the tech said that she already knew what it was but that she was trying to find a good shot for me, I was totally prepared for her to say "boy." But then I heard the words "You see those 3 little lines?" and I started to cry...happy tears.
I truly do hope to have a boy someday, but I cannot deny how much fun it has been having a girl. I always hear people say how difficult little girls can be and that they don't really want one, but those have not been my feelings at all! Not to say that I haven't experienced my share of feistiness and sensitive little emotions, but I have absolutely LOVED it nonetheless. And I'm so excited to have another. Not to mention how much money this will save us being able to reuse so many of Reese's clothes. Who am I kidding??? I immediately went shopping for a little girl outfit right after the ultrasound. Sorry Tom.
There's something about finding out the gender that makes it so much more real. Now I have a little baby girl in my belly!!! If only I could convince Reese that it's real. On the way into the doctor's office I was explaining to her that we were going to see the baby, but she was insistent that I meant "doggy." Silly lady.
So we're on our way to Tom's perfect plan of girl, girl, then twin boys. Rrriiiiiiight. Ha!

Congrats, Rachel! I totally wanted two little girls first. It was my dream to have two little girls in matching dresses for Easter, etc. So fun! Reese will thank you for a sister later.
Contragulations!!!! I was totally thinking boy too. That means you have another girls room to decorate.... fun stuff. I am so happy for Reese, she will love having a little sister. I hope eventually you will have a boy someday because they are SO MUCH FUN!! I hope I have a girl but I am thinking my next will be boy again... and I am not pregnant. Have a great day.
Congrats! How fun for you guys!! The gender ultra-sound is always so exciting. . . then you can start getting everything ready (and buying more cute girl stuff)!!
Congratulations Rachel!! I'm so excited for you guys. Another little Reese running around will be so darn cute!!
Amy
congrats!! very exciting news. Having a sister come after me, I can tell you how much fun it has been. They will be the best of friends!! I secretly wanted a boy for our second since all I knew was boy and I had loved having a boy and wanted to have them be good buddies, but after having my little Avery, I can't imagine not having a girl. Girls are so much fun!! And you are going to have 2!! What a lucky mom!
Congrats Tom and Rachel. I'm glad you're so happy about having another girl. All I've heard is that girls are easy when they're young, but get harder as they get older. I think it all depends on the personality though. I know I was always an angel. :) See, I hope my next is a boy, and I wonder if that's because we're already familiar with that gender. Anyway, I'm sure Reese will love having a little sister, and I'm sure you'll enjoy dressing her in all of Reese's old clothes, bringing back many memories.
Congrats! How exciting to have another adorable little girl on the way. Any names picked out? Are you going to have to change the name of your blog now?!
Yeah!!! Reesey can have a little buddy. So exciting. I guess this is your last single birth though before the twins so... ENJOY!!
YAY!!! Congratulations!!! That is so super exciting. I am so happy for you, Tom and Reese. What fun it will be for her to have a sister to play with. Good luck with those twins!!! :)
Yay! Chant with me . . . sisTERS! sisTERS! sisTERS! I was excited when we found out #2 was a girl, but seriously it's just gotten better since then. They get cuter and cuter together. I love it. So excited for you guys.
I agree that two girls is SO much fun. It is nice that they will be close in age and can be best friends going through the same life changing events. Plus, you can reuse clothes and not feel too guilty spending extra money on those must have cute accessories and new clothes that will be special for the baby. Everyone needs their own stuff, right? I am sure Tom will easily forgive you for all the things you'll just have to buy for the new addition. I'm so happy for you!
It was perfect timing when you texted me. I ordered two "mink" coats for Reesey and "Reesey Jr.". Go on line at www.bearingtoncollection.com and tell me if you want the dark or the camel color. I'm sooo excited!!!
Congrats!! I always wanted two of the same gender in a row!
Aw, a GIRL! That is so exciting! There isn't anything sweeter than two sisters! Hopefully Reese is easy on her clothes, my 3yo pretty much destroys all her clothes so I'm not couting on hand-me-downs anymore! Congrats & uh, good luck with the twins! :)
Congratulations!!! Little girls are the best. I guess I am bias. I have 3 but am so thankful that they have eachother. There is a special bond between girls and their moms. Don't get me wrong Mark and I would love a boy someday, but LOVE having our girls. They are all Daddys girls.
I can't wait for her cute name.
Congrats! You know we love the little girls at our house. Reese will be such a cute big sisiter. And "Amen" to buying the little sister new clothes even though you have boxes of hand me downs for her.
I am glad you are so excited about having a girl! Keep listing off all of the things you love so that I can get in the spirit just in case......Reese is a darn cute girl and I would definitely not mind have one like her!
That is so fun! I love having two boys. It's nice when you can re-use your baby stuff from your first kid (because you know that you got all the cutest stuff for your first)! Plus, they can grow up to be good friends. Congratulations!
CONGRATS!!!! I am soooooo excited for you guys. I see all of the little sisters in our neighborhood who are close in age and how much fun they have having someone with them all the time who loves girly things and who will play house and dolls with them. Reese will love that (and sometimes hate that, too :-))! Yay! I'm so excited for you guys!
Congratulations! They will be so close they they will be a lot of fun.
Yay! Now Reese will have a little buddy. :) It's so nice to have a sister. Congrats!
I came back to look at the 7-11 post and to add a comment about the Chinese calculator. It is supposed to be quite accurate (90-99%, if you buy that), but you have to make sure you use your lunar age. Basically, it is adding two years to your age. So, you should go back and see if it says you will have a girl being two years older than you are now. Of course it is not 100% accurate, but the Chinese are funny and you are a year old when you are born and then everyone gains a year on Chinese New Year and so unless your birthday is before Chinese New Year (in which case you would not gain a year on Chinese New Year and gain one on your actual birthday instead) you actually are not a year older on your birthday. Silly traditions. Some online calculators factor in the lunar year, but most do not. Obviously it is just for fun, but it would be interesting to see if you add two years if it would say you'll have a girl instead of a boy.
Okay, you probably think I am crazy since I just left a long comment, but the reason I came back to post it was that I read this archive blog post the other day: http://www.karencheng.com.au/2008/01/11/making-baby-3-part-13-the-chinese-gender-chart/ All the info you need is there; including a chart.
YAY CONGRATS! I am so excited for you! I love girls too and they love having each other!! I love to dress little girls, too bad Grace hates to wear clothes :) Oh I am so excited!!
AHHHHHH!! How exciting!!!! Happy day for you all and especially little Reese! She'll have a little best bud always!!! So fun!!!
Yay! Girl! I totally thought I was having a boy as well, but I think I just told myself that because I REALLY wanted a girl and I didn't want to disappoint myself. Girls may be emotional, but boys set fires. If I could have it my way we'd have two girls and that's all. However, Warren wants a boy, so I guess for his sake I hope the next one is a boy (but, really I hope it's a girl and since it seems the universe likes me better than Warren, my money is on another girl). Congratulations!
Awesome! That is so great and how fun will that be for Reese to have a sister so close in age. Perfect. Congrats!!
Congrats on the girl. They are so much fun aren't they?! I've loved having my girls next to each other. I'm two for two now (on your blog and Heidi's).
Yeah!!! You'll love having two girls right in a row. I wish I would have had same gender kids back to back...just today Audrey said, "Mom, I wish Clara were just a little bit older so I could play with her."
Congrats Rachel! How fun to be able to give Reese a sister. I just loved having sisters. Our little family skipped the second girl and went straight to the twin boys. Who knows maybe one day we can give Averie a sister too.
