Poipu Beach (Kauai)
This was actually Reese's second time to Hawaii. (Poipu Beach 2006. I was about 7 months along with her.)
But I'm guessing she had a tad bit more fun not being in my belly this time around.
This is a section of the pool and grounds of where we stayed. Absolutely gorgeous!
Reese leading the way to our room with all our luggage. As you can see, the Koch family does not pack light.
Charlie and Reese were definitely the most valuable and precious of all the luggage we brought along though. They definitely made for a more low-key Hawaii experience, but we still had a ton of fun.
The whole gang at Bubba Burgers.
Tom, me, Adam, Charlie, Nora, Reese, Dad, & Mom.
This picture believe it or not was actually taken by Rob Lowe. He was sitting at the table next to us and ended up taking a group shot for us. We think it's kind of funny that we didn't even get a picture with him. (Emily, there's our next celebrity to be included in our gossip column. And just for the record, he's just as cute in person!)
Tunnels beach is Tom's favorite. He is such a cute little snorkeler and could stay out there forever. I love Reese's face in this picture.
Charlie and Reese kickin' it in the shade with their buckets and "sand excavators."
Well, Charlie's version of "playing" mostly included a game called "eating as much sand as I can get away with before somebody catches me." He's so cute!
Happy as a clam!

Wailua Falls
One afternoon part of the crew hiked down to the base of these waterfalls.
My absolute FAVORITE place to eat in Kauai is Hamura Samin. It's basically a cheap hole in the wall little joint that serves jazzed up Ramen Noodles. (Emily, my fellow Ramen Noodle lover, it would be your heaven! Em, two references in one post!) I ended up eating there a total of 3 times! I love it! I mean, what could be better for a pregnant woman than 20,000 mg of sodium in one sitting? Yummy!
Another must when you visit Kauai is Jo Jo's Shave Ice. It's flavored shave ice with ice cream on the bottom.
Adam turned 32 while we were there so we went out to a Hibachi style place to celebrate.
One night my parents were nice enough to stay back with the kiddos and let the 4 of us escape for a fun stress free dinner out.
Buddhist Temple
The boys had to wear these skirts as a sort of modesty thing. Don't they look cute? We of course couldn't take pictures inside the temple, but it was pretty cool.
These are some of the beautiful grounds surrounding their temple.
Golfing
Adam and Tom got to do a round of golf one morning. (My parents attended a time share presentation in order to get 2 free passes for them.)
I would definitely say this was one of Tom's main highlights of the trip.
Feeding the "Ducks"
And finally I have to include Reese's absolute favorite activity which was feeding the chickens every day with Momoo. Chickens are everywhere in Hawaii (they're like prairie dogs to Colorado), and there were always some right outside our room. Reese called them "duckies" the whole time, but that's okay...all cows used to say "neigh" and all horses used to say "moo." She'll get it in time.
All Good Things Must Come to an End
Saying goodbye to the birthday boy.
A huge thanks to my parents who were generous enough to let us tag along again. We loved it!
P.S. If you're not all pictured out you can see even more Hawaii pics on both my parent's blog and Adam & Nora's blog.

Wow reading this post totally makes me want to go. Like, as soon as I'm done leaving this comment I will be googling travel agents. I love Reese's face in that picture with Tom, too. And that waterfall! Gorgeous! And I know I've said it before but . . . you are such a cute girl! Pregnant or not! Actually, I can't even tell in that first picture that you're pregnant. What's your secret???
I really love all the pictures. The one of Tom kissing Reese is soooo cute. And the one that Rob Lowe took, well it's cuter by association (he was involved in the photo taking process). Sounds like it was a really fun trip. What a beautiful place to visit, with your beautiful little family. :)
It looks and sounds like it was a super fun trip!! How lucky is Reese to have gotten to go to Hawaii twice already in her young age; I've never even been there once - sob!!! ;)
What fun! Reese looks like she was made for the beach! And, you look great! Damien and I were talking last night about how sometimes we feel like the only ones who have never been to Hawaii, and your pictures really make me want to go. Hopefully someday!
loved this post. I loved all the pictures, I love how the hotel pools are so luxurious. When I was there I saw chickens all over the place too. It was the weirdest thing to see them running the streets and beaches.
I like your pink floppy hat too. looks like you had a great time. That made me want to go again soon. I love everything about that place. Congrats on your pregnancy!
First of all, you look so amazing for being halfway into your pregnancy!
Second, I am sooo jealous of your Hawaii trip! It looks like you guys had a blast! I really enjoyed all the pictures and I think it's hilarious that Rob Lowe took one of the pictures! Awesome!
I LOVE Hawaii. You'd think with my hubby being Hawaiian and all (and his parents living there) that we'd be frequent visitors...but sadly we're not. Your little girl is purely darling! Looks like you had lots of fun!
Fun! Great pics I've been on that same hike with the waterfall...Kauai is so beautiful! You look awesome by the way, kudos to Tom on the belly pics!
Looks like you guys had a blast! Reese is super cute...what a doll! Oh, and we LOVE the shaved ice here!
Wow, what a fun trip, we still haven't made it to Hawaaii, would love to go someday!!! But I have to say, I can't believe that you didn't get a picture with ROB LOWE!!!! Hello?!!!! I think I would have been all over him! Anyways, that is awesome that you guys had such a good time. Great pictures.
You don't even look prego in any of these photos. I love your suit! And Reese looks adorable in every photo (as usual).
Glad you had such a great trip before the baby. I look forward to when we can vacation together with all our little girls:)
Woo hoo! Two references in one post! Go me! I think my in-laws stay at that same place in Kauai. We've been with them once, and it looks the same. That's funny that you didn't get a picture with Rob Lowe. I'm still kicking myself for not getting my picture with Carey Hart (he's a dirt bike racer, by the way - others I talk to seem to have no idea who he is) on my birthday. I'm glad you guys had a fun time. And you do look awesome, Rachel.
So why is your dad flipping off the camera in that picture?
I'm so jealous - I love Hawaii and your pictures just make me want to be there right now! Plus you saw Rob Lowe - it doesn't get better than that! Lucky girl.
Nice post! The beach looked so fun! I also liked how you had a section for just the food... just delicious.
-Steve
you are beter than me. i would have done a whole separate post for the food, rather than just a section. maybe that's why i look the way i do. i dont think it's fair that i have never been to hawaii and you have been multiple times. next time, can we tag along?!!
What a blast!! I love Hawaii and hope to go next year for John and I's 10th anniversary. We'll see. I love your sun hat! To bad you werent aloud to take pictures of the buddhist temple- the grounds are absolutely beautiful though! And the guys look great in there surongs!;)
