ER Trip

Yesterday we had to make a trip to the ER because of a careless mommy named Rachel. Earlier in the day Reese was being so fussy. She kept crying and wouldn't let me put her down, and she wouldn't eat anything. She'd start to eat for a second, then turn her head and start crying. I finally saw that she had something way back in her mouth. It was this plastic piece that is normally glued onto a metal hair-clip. I fished the plastic piece out, but then started to get a little worried that she may have swallowed the metal part. My gut feeling was that she didn't, but I didn't want to be a neglectful mom so I called my pediatrician to see what I should do. They told me to take her to the ER for an x-ray because although a metal piece can just pass through, it can also get stuck or lodged in the wrong way. I kept telling myself that this was all so silly and started to feel embarrassed to take her to the ER for this. But there was that "what if" part that kept persisting in my mind. I finally swallowed my pride (no pun intended) and took her to the ER. To make a long story short, she didn't swallow it. Thank goodness! It was so cute to see her there in the ER though. I was so sad I didn't have my camera, but like any true, fast-thinking blogger I pulled out my camera phone and got a few shots.
The doctor looking down her throat

Up on the x-ray table. I thought she looked so cute and little up on that big table. She was so good. All she did was just look at me like "what are these people doing to me?"

All better! The nurses were soooo cute with her. They kept coming up and playing with her and talking to her. They even gave her this little teddy bear which she LOVES!

Well, although I know things like this happen to little people, I've learned my lesson to watch her a little more closely. Even though I felt silly being there, I'm still a firm believer in: better safe than sorry.

Oh poor Reese! Glad she is feeling better. We have had our fair share of trips to the urgent care with tyson but like you said, better safe than sorry!!

I'm so glad that everything was fine with Reese! That can be so scary. They do look so cute when they are in the ER, though. There's just something different there that makes them look so little and angelic. Does that sound weird? Well, anyway, I'm glad she's fine!

Wowee. Why do babies give their mothers such worries? And why do they insist on "eating" things that aren't food? I'm glad you know all is well now. And I'm glad you're a fast thinking camera phone using blogger cause those are cute pics of the babes.
